Why i believe the AIG tax is wrong

I have been disturbed for the last week about this potential taxing of AIG bonuses, talk of it being as high as 100% to "return it to the American people", which is DC language meaning giving it back to Fedzilla so that they can spend it. The whole reason these bonuses came about, other than being a smoke screen to cover up the $60B being sent overseas, was due to lack of oversight. It would help if the guys we pay to read bills they vote on actually read them, right?

HR 1586 was voted on and passed yesterday by more than 2/3 of the US House of Representatives and will apparently charge a 90% tax on these AIG bonuses as well as others who are receiving bailout money and receive extremely high bonuses out of it. The easy thing would be simply not allow the bonuses to come out, which makes sense, and explains why Congress didn't consider that...but its a little late for that now. I think Congress passing this type of legislation is the wrong precedence because it will open the door for them to do it again, and again, and again when they deem it necessary...and one day may potentially effect most if not all tax payers, not just high paid executives who run their business into the ground. Along with that, i do belive it to be unconstitutional.

Consider Article 1 secion 9 of the US Constitution, which like the so called "stimulus bill" may not have have been read by those in the Congress, which says, "No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed." And "ex post facto" is an adjective meaning "Formulated, enacted, or operating retroactively. [Med Lat., from what is done afterwards]" Example, passing a ridiculously high tax that is retroactive on a bailout bill that has been previously passed by the Congress. But, why bring the rule of the law into play, right? Why not pass a law after the fact, right?

And there is also that pesky 14th Amendment that says the government will not "deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Taxing one person more just because you don't like something about them denies them equal protection of the law; in fact it makes them victims of the law...it doesn't matter if we agree or disagree with these bailout bonuses.

I think it is important to also note that the 16th Amendment which was proposed in July 1909 and ratified in February 1913 established a federal income tax...it was not part of our founding father's plan and original framing of the Constitution. Meaning that until 1913 a federal income tax was unconstitutional. So, how far from the original plan for our great country have we gone when Congress has taken things this for. This tells me that we no longer have a government that is of the people, by the people, for the people.

The AIG executives and any executives of these companies who are receiving bailout money should not be getting bonus money paid for by the US tax payer for helping ruin our economy. It truly sickens me that this is happening, but it is more sickening that our government would side step the laws of the land in this attack on our Constitution.

Time to get things going again

I lost my father right after the new year, he suffered a stroke and then passed away less than 2 weeks later. This threw my world into a bit of a spin, and to add to it illness and deaths in the church i serve and my own son being hospitalized with flu symptoms...this blog has been the least of my worries. But after watching the administration of President B.O. continue to make a mockery of the White House and this Congress trample upon the Constitution, i think it is time to get going again.

I was more than willing to give this President and his cronies in Congress ever benefit of the doubt, and it only gives me more doubts. Between the tax cheats being nominated for cabinet posts and Barney Frank and company ripping the 1st and 14th Amendments out of the law of the land...i can no longer be silent. Beginning to day i will begin posting once again, many of these posts have also been posted on Facebook, but will get reposted here also.

For the time being i will remain here on Blogger, but will consider moving to another service, like Wordpress, in the future.

2008 Bowl-A-Mania IV…The Final Chapter!

Welcome to 2009 and Happy New Year! I was out in the cold until 2:00AM watching a bonfire die down enough to go to bed, and then took another hour to actually fall asleep…yeah, I’m in huge need of coffee right now. Regardless I do hope you and yours have a very blessed New Year!

Now on to getting some people upset with me…it’s the final week of bowls for the 2009 season! Let’s begin with a recap:

• Texas Bowl, apparently the home field worked for Rice…1-0
• Holiday Bowl, head there was some questionable calls…did the refs come from the Pac 10? The Ducks win…1-1.
• Armed Forces Bowl, what happened to the Falcons? 1-2
• Sun Bowl, was this a soccer game? Oregon State won 3-0? I fall to 1-3
• Music City Bowl, Vandy managed to win their first bowl game since 1955 by beating the team with the longest bowl win streak in the nation…1-4
• Insight Bowl, Jayhawks win big and win easily…2-4
• Chick-Fil-A Bowl, Oh you of little faith! LSU was given no chance against Tech’s triple option spread offense, but pulled out the 38-3 win! Two things: LSU needs to work on their schedule so that they don’t have to play 8 weeks in a row again, and Jefferson should have been invested in all season instead of Lee…3-4

OK, that stuck, and brings my overall pick total to 13-9 for this post season. Not bad, but not too good either.
Now on to the picks…

• Outback Bowl, Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, FL
The Head Ball Coach brings his fighting Chickens south from South Carolina after a typical USC season to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes out of the Big 10. Spurrier has the ability to get his Gamecocks to win many games that they probably should not have won, while still managing to lose the big games. Iowa on the other hand did manage to hand Penn State their only blemish on the season.
MY PICK: I’m sympathetic to South Carolina as an SEC school, but I don’t see them pulling this one out…I’ll swallow my pride and pick the Big 10 team.

• Gator Bowl, Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL
Terry Bowden won’t be escorting Clemson into the Gator Bowl this year having been fired for a totally lack luster start that gave them a 7-5 record and a midfield finish in the ACC. They match up against Bo Pellini’s Cornhuskers of Nebraska coming out of the Big 12 with an 8-4 record. Usually the Gator Bowl is one of my favorite games, not so sure this year’s is going to rate high on my scale.
MY PICK: Clemson is a mess and probably messed up firing Bowden, and even though Bo abandoned LSU for greener corn fields, I’ll pick the ‘Huskers in this one.

• Capital One, Citrus Bowl in Orlando
The 2009 edition of the artist formally known as the Citrus Bowl that sold out to corporate sponsorship while still being played in the Citrus Bowl will once again match up Big 10 and SEC non-BCS runner ups. Former #1 Georgia enters the game having finished 2nd in the SEC East and losing to Georgia Tech in the last game of the season to face #19 Michigan State who matches the Bulldogs with a 9-3 record. Last year’s game was a huge upset with Michigan pulling the surprise on Florida and picking up one more win for Lloyd Carr
MY PICK: I was way wrong on this one last year, but don’t see anyone playing for Lloyd Carr this year…Bulldogs should win with a big game by Moreno.

• The Rose Bowl, Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA
Joe Pa makes a return to Pasadena with his Nittany Lions and a single loss on the season to face off against USC playing what amounts to a home game and a single loss also. Joe Paterno is an old school, throw back coach of yeaster-year….especially since he is from the old school and is a throw back and from yester-year being that the guys is almost as old as the Rose Bowl parade. USC on the other hand is often compared to a pro team, and honestly I still wouldn’t doubt some of their players getting paid as much as the pros.
MY PICK: On paper this should be USC’s game to lose, but I’m not going to count the Lions out of it and I’m going to call the upset…Penn State wins.

• Orange Bowl, Dolphins Stadium in Miami, FL
Yes Virginia (Tech), Cincinnati does have a football program. Most people don’t realize that the Bearcats have the oldest on campus stadium in the country, especially since most people don’t realize still that they have a football team. Virginia Tech on the other hand has come so close so many times that they may not always be taken seriously.
MY PICK: My wife is a native of Cincinnati and since my father-in-law wore his Bearcat hat all last week I’ll look at them to repeat their 1947 Sun Bowl win over the Hokies.

• Cotton Bowl, Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX
Ole Miss fans were wondering around Texarkana yesterday…apparently they are so unused to playing in a bowl game that they didn’t realize Texarkana wasn’t Dallas. The Rebs bring a surprising #20 ranking and a 2nd place finish in the SEC west with a 8-4 record to face off against the Red Raiders of Texas Tech who bring an 11-1 record out of the Big 12 South which was a mess to pick a winner. And what a coaching match-up with the Mad Scientist facing off against….oh wait, no match up there, Ole Miss is coached by Houston “Sometimes you feel like a” Nutt.
MY PICK: Tech will run all over the Rebs.

• Liberty Bowl, Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN
I love the Liberty Bowl, thought it has had some great match ups in the past…but to be played during BCS week? Why?
For what it is worth the Kentucky Wildcats come out of the SEC with a 6-6 record and they are playing in the 3rd consecutive bowl game for only the 2nd time ever to face off against the East Carolina Pirates who went 9-4 and finished first in the C-USA East. Only in this bowl scenario can a team that finished last in their division match up against a team that finished first in theirs.
Last year the Cats surprised me and won their bowl game, while ECU did manage to start the season with 2 wins against ranked opponents (Virginia Tech and West Virginia), but managed to lose to Mid-Major powerhouse Southern Miss.
MY PICK: Once again, I’m sympathetic to the SEC…but UK is a basketball school; I’ll pick ECU.

• Sugar Bowl, The Louisiana SuperDome in New Orleans, LA
Nick Satan…oops, Saban brings his bunch of hooligans from Tuscaloosa after a surprising season which had them at #1 for a few weeks to face the party crashers out of the Mountain West, Utah. Most people assume Bama will roll over the Utes, but I expect Utah to be the only team the Tide faces that can put up more points than Florida. The Utes will have the distinction of being the only undefeated team in Div. 1-A with a win and a possible argument in the BCS championship debate.
MY PICK: On paper, should be Tide…but the only thing bigger than Saban’s ego is probably the domed stadium this game is being played in; I’m pulling for Utah but wouldn’t be surprised to see the Tide pull it out.

• International Bowl, Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada
Buffalo making their first bowl appearance ever and facing U-Conn in Cananda…never mind, I won’t say it.
MY PICK: The Saturday before my anniversary…I’m taking my wife out, WIN!

• Fiesta Bowl, University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ
The Ohio State Buckeyes bring a 10-2 record and a 2nd place finish in the Big 10 into another BCS game, which hasn’t led to good results the last 2 years…both losses to the SEC. Lucky for the acorns, no SEC this year, but they do get to face the 11-1 Texas Longhorns who feel that they should be playing in Miami a few days later for the BCS championship. The last time OSU played the Fiesta they won, but the last time they played UT they lost.
MY PICK: It cracks me up that 2 time BCS loser Jim Tressel has a book out on winning at life! UT in a route.

• BCS Championship, Dolphins Stadium in Miami
OU brings a 4 game BCS losing streak, including 2 championship games, into the big one to face the home state team, the Florida Gators. Both teams are have a single loss and Heisman winning QB’s…Tim Tebow last year, Sam Bradford this year. Tebow and the Gators have been on a mission since losing at home to Ole Miss early in the season while OU were playing for style points to wrap up the season putting up basketball game type scores week to week. Both teams can and will probably put up a butt-load of points, but I think the team that can play the best defense will pull it out…and lets face it, the Big 12 has no defense.
MY PICK: Florida will be the 2nd team to win a 2nd BCS championship and keep it in the SEC for yet another year.

2008 Bowl-A-Mania in Triplicate!

Christmas is come and gone, and now the big New Years celebration is right around the corner where we get a week’s worth of BCS mayhem…with some really questionable games thrown into the mix. I think I would rather see some of these bowl games eliminated rather than a playoff system at this point; but who am I other than a football fan…like I really matter!

Here is a recap of the 2nd set of picks.
• Motor City Bowl: I still think FAU got screwed getting sent from FL to Detroit in December, but they did win and I didn’t have to watch it! WIN!
• Meineke Car Care Bowl: Close game with WVA pulling out, congrats! 2-0 this week.
• Champs Sports Bowl: Bobby and his boys beat the Madison Reds…3-0
• Emerald Bowl: Miami didn’t win…I’ll leave it at that, 3-1
• Independence Bowl: Bulldogs win a bowl game for the first time since 1980, 4-1
• PapaJohns.com Bowl: I got sushi, eel rolls! And somebody won, I think Rutgers won…I call it a win, 5-1
• Alamo Bowl: Cousin Chase (who knows, we might be related!) and the Tigers from Mizzou pull it out in the end, 6-1
• Humanitarian Bowl: Blue turf…7-1.

This takes my total so far to 10-5 for this bowl season. Now on to more picks!

• Texas Bowl, Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX
Not sure how but Rice managed to get into a bowl game after fielding a 9-3 record, which is generally opposite of their typical record of 3-9 and will be taking on the Western Michigan Broncos with a matching record. These regional MI teams are the only ones that the University of Michigan managed to beat this year while Rice is a grain served best in a bowl of gumbo.
MY PICK: Rice has a home field advantage, but to be honest…who cares? I’ll pick Rice just because.

• Holiday Bowl, Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA
Oklahoma State brings a 9-3 record and losses to the power players of the Big 12 into San Diego to play Donald and the Boys from Oregon, who also bring a 9-3 record out of the Pac 10. Big 12 teams like the Cowboys have no defense, and Pac 10 teams like the Ducks have no defense either…should be a basketball score.
MY PICK: My secretary is an OSU graduate, Go Cowboys!

• Armed Forces Bowl, Amon G. Carter Stadium in Ft Worth, TX
This edition of the Bell Helicopters Peace Thru Superior Fire Power Bowl matches up the United States Air Force Academy with an 8-4 record against the Houston Cougars with a 7-5 record. Air Force is known for high powered offense and Houston is known for…well, there was David Klingler a long time ago.
MY PICK: God Bless the USA! USAF, Go Falcons!

• Sun Bowl, Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, TX
Pittsburg travels southwest from the Big East to face off against the Oregon State Beavers from the PAC 10. OSU did beat USC this year, and I applaud them for that since I hate USC…and Pitt is the alma mater of Dan Marino and Tony Dorsett. Both teams started miserably and rebounded in the end, but fell short.
MY PICK: The Beavers lost 3 big road games this year, I’ll hold my breath and take Pitt.

• Music City Bowl, LP Field in Nashville, TN
Vandy is in their first bowl game since 1982 and only the 4th one ever and get a home date thanks to their 6-6 record to take on the Boston College Eagles coming out of the ACC with a 9-4 record. I so want to cheer on the Commodores, but they are Vandy…and their purpose is to help raise the overall academic standards of the SEC, not win football games. And they are also facing off against the runners up in the ACC who barely lost to Virginia Tech in the conference title game.
MY PICK: Sympathy goes to Vandy, but common sense says pick BC, I’ll go with common sense.

• Insight Bowl, Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ
After going 1-11 last year the Golden Gophers head south from Minnesota with a much improved 7-5 record to face off against last year’s Big 12 Cinderella, Kansas with a matching record. I still think Kansas is a basketball school, but they are apparently learning how to play football.
MY PICK: The state of Minnesota may have elected a stupid SNL “comedian” (I use that term loosely) to replace a find Senator…Go Jayhawks!

• Chick-Fil-A Bowl, Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA
My beloved Bayou Bengals fell well short of their BCS National Championship hopes and finished a lowly 7-5, losing many games as a result of not having a QB who can throw to the right player. They face off this year against the Wramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech, who bring a national ranking of 14 and a 9-3 record into this year’s match-up of the SEC and ACC. The Jackets finished strong with a win over in state rival Georgia while the Tigers dropped a heart breaker in Little Rock against the Pigs from Fayetteville in the last game of the season.
MY PICK: I am by no means a fair weather fan, but think the Tigers would have been better off staying home and finding them a QB for next year…but I will pick them none the less. Geaux Tigers!

2008 Bowl-A-Mania 2, The Sequel

The 2008 Bowl season is off and running, and so far I’ve been surprised by how good some of the games have been while still thinking there are way too many stinking bowl games for anyone’s good.
Now for my first round recap.

• EagleBank Bowl: My house got cleaned and Wake won…since my house took precedence it’s a win. 1-0
• New Mexico Bowl: CSU came from behind and beat the Bulldogs…and I still hate Acadiana High School. 1-1
• St. Petersburg Bowl: This was a joke with USF winning their home game, good visit with my dad. 2-1
• Las Vegas Bowl: BYU lost by 10 when their kicker who only missed 2 field goals all season missed 3…another missed pick. 2-2
• R+L Carriers New Orleans: A surprisingly good game that had me switching between the Giants and Panthers. Golden Buzzards win and we had a great fellowship. 3-2
• San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl: I have no idea what happened here, and what happened to Boise???? 3-3
• Hawaii Bowl, Aloha Stadium: I hate Notre Dame. 3-4

OK, I pretty much stunk up the first set of picks…let’s hope the 2nd set is better.

• Motor City Bowl, Ford Field in Detroit, MI.
Nothing says “holiday get away” like a trip to Detroit in December! Yeah, right. Watch out for drive by shootings and protect your wallet like your life. And lucky for the Florida Atlantic Owls they get to leave the Sun Belt to face the Central Michigan Chippewas from the MAC playing in their 3rd straight Motor City Bowl game. Remember that too many bowl games thing? FAU was 3rd in the Sun Belt and CMU was 4th in the MAC with a 6-6 record.
MY PICK: FAU fans stay in the sunshine and everyone else go shopping for post Christmas specials.

• Meineke Car Care Bowl, Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC
ACC could have been North Carolina brings their #1 ranking…oh wait, that is in basketball. This is the 8-4 football team taking on Big East should have been West Virginia with a matching record in the mother of all big corporate sponsored ball games.
MY PICK: I’m picking the should have been, Mountaineers win.

• Champs Sports Bowl, Citrus Bowl in Orlando
Bobby Bowden brings a less than stellar 8-4 team out of the ACC that at times showed signs of brilliance during this season to take on the 7-5 Wisconsin Badgers who finished 6th in a pretty pathetic Big 10. I’m a Bobby Bowden fan and if you took all of the Obama loving Socialists out of Madison…it would be a ghost town.
MY PICK: I’m going with FSU since it is a bit of a home game, but wouldn’t be surprised to see the Commies win.

• Emerald Bowl, AT&T Park in San Francisco
This year’s Fruit and Nut Bowl plays host to the Granola State’s own Berkley Bears out of the Pac 10 taking on the U from Miami coming cross country to one of the few places even more liberal than South Florida. The Canes are 7-5 and play in an overrated conference while Cal is 8-4 in a one team conference…where do I turn, where do I turn? Who do I despise the most?
MY PICK: It’s a home game for Berkley…but they are Berkley, that isn’t even part of America, is it? I can’t even say I pick…them; so I’ll say I pick Miami.

• Independence Bowl, Independence Stadium in Shreveport, LA
The game that is so good that they managed to lose their sponsorship! After seeing mediocre Big 12 and SEC teams for the last few years, they returned to a classic match up of a 4th place WAC team, Louisiana Tech taking on a .500 team finishing 5th in the MAC, Northern Illinois. Yeah…classic. What happened to the mediocre BCS schools?
MY PICK: I’ll probably watch this game just because of LA Tech, and I’ll pick them too.

• PapaJohns.com Bowl, Legion Field in Birmingham, AL
Isn’t this the bowl game Louisville has been trying to get since building Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium? In this year’s edition the State College of New Jersey, Rutgers comes out of the Big East finished tied for 4th in that conference to face the NC State Wolfpack who come to SEC territory out of the ACC with a last place finish in their division. Too many bowl games?
MY PICK: Honestly, I’m at a loss here. Probably the only thing worst than a mediocre mid major getting into a bowl game is a mediocre majors getting a free trip during the Christmas break. Darn, it will be Monday at 3:00 PM…I’ll be working. I win!

• Alamo Bowl, Alamo Dome in San Antonio
The 15th edition of the Alamo Bowl matches up Big 12 could have been Mizzou with the Big 10’s never quite was Northwestern. There were big hopes for the Tigers this year that crashed and burned against the big boys of the Big 12 south; and as for Northwestern…well, they are a school for drama majors, right?
MY PICK: I like that QB for Mizzou, Chase…and what is his last name again? Oh yeah, Daniel! I’m going with Missouri.

• Humanitarian Bowl, Bronco Stadium in Boise, ID
I still have yet to figure out how they managed to keep a bowl game going on the smurf turf for 11 years! This year Nevada heads north after finishing 3rd in the WAC to face off against the 7-5 Terps coming cross country from the University of Maryland. Did I mention the blue turf? And Idaho? Blue turf? Yeah, really…blue turf. Please do not adjust your TV’s color settings; that really is blue astro-turf you are seeing.
MY PICK: 2:30 on a Tuesday, you know…I’m going to have to be in the office…darn!

2008 Bowl-a-Mania

So I turned on my TV this morning and what do I see…A BOWL GAME! Is it that time of the year already? And I still haven’t made my picks? With so many meaningless and useless bowl games leading up to the last week of December and that the sitcom that we get to watch daily with the Illinois Governor’s office…it is understandable how these early games can be over looked. But then again, it is the weekend before Christmas and I just had to turn my air conditioner on too; go figure.

This year there will be 34 bowl games featuring 68 different FBS (formally known as Division I-A) schools, which means it will much harder to not get into a bowl game than it is to get into one. In some cases a mediocre season is more than enough to play in the 2nd season.

With that being said, off we go with my bowl picks for this year. As in previous years, expect it to be as politically incorrect as possible, some golden calves may be slaughtered and someone may very well get offended as I give my opinion of your favorite school, your home state and even thrown in some political and theological points in for fun. Enjoy the first of many parts!

• EagleBank Bowl, RFK Stadium in Washington DC
The 8-4 Navy Midshipmen bring in 2 straight heartbreaker losses in bowl games to take on the 7-5 Demon Deacons from the ACC, Wake Forest. We have the alma mater of Vietnam War hero, US Senator and GOP Presidential nominee John McCain facing off against a team from one of the most liberal Baptist schools in the country…so much so I’m ashamed to call them Baptist at time. Not sure the point of a bowl game in the nation’s capital when the schools are failing, crime is up and the US Congress has an approval rating of 18%.
MY PICK: Not watching this one, cleaning the house for company, automatic win for me!

• New Mexico Bowl, University Stadium in Albuquerque, NM
The artist formally known as the Sun Bowl plays host to the Colorado State Rams, bringing in a 6-6 record out of the Mountain West Conference against the spunky Fresno State Bulldogs with their “Anybody, any place, any time” attitude who have a 7-5 record. So the 6th best MWC team is taking on the 5th best WAC team…and this is supposed to be a bowl game?
MY PICK: Typically I wouldn’t give a rip, but since CSU should be at home and remind me too much of the Acadiana High School Rams…I’m picking Fresno.

• St. Petersburg Bowl, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL
Basketball school Memphis carries a 6-6 record from the C-USA into the citrus state to take on the Southern Florida Bulls with a 7-5 record that includes a 2-5 record in the Big East. Once again, why?!?!
MY PICK: My dad is here, I win.

• Las Vegas Bowl, Sam Boyd Stadium in Sin City
The geniuses in Las Vegas hoping for a cash cow must be flipping their lids as the Mormons make their 4th straight appearance in the city known for gambling and legalized prostitution…yeah, good choice there! BYU is 10-2 and was oh so close to crashing the BCS party while Arizona is 7-5 and making their first bowl appearance in 10 years. I hate the Pac 10.

Please tell me why Notre Dame goes 6-6 and gets rewarded with a free trip to Hawaii?????? Their hosts, the Warriors of Hawaii finished 7-6 after getting pasted by Georgia in last year’s Sugar Bowl. This game used to be played on Christmas day and has now been moved to Christmas Eve…which means fewer people watching. I’m not so sure the catholic boys have been saying enough hail mary’s lately since they haven’t won a bowl game since 1992 or 93.

Time Person of the Year

Well, it is official. Time Magazine has named Barack Hussein Obama their "Person of the Year" for 2008...or as i refer to it, a typical cover story for this pseudo-news rag.

Of course my math may be wrong, but i do believe that Barack Hussein Obama's face has gracefully graced the cover of one of his favorite PR publications at least 13 times as the focal point, and probably also was one of a collection of faces featured at least another 6 times in the last year. Every one of these covers presenting him as nothing short of incredible, of course; while the likes of John McCain or Sarah Palin were presented as the evil, scum of the earth politicos that those who practice yellow journalism make them out to be.

Time Magazine is just another proof of what Sean Hannity refers to the death of journalism in 2008. With more and more print publications going broke, we can only hope Time's time will come also.

Even though the lame stream media seems to want to sweep this under the rug along with the Obama campaign, i think it needs to be proclaimed loudly so that people can see who may have influence on a "President Obama".

Obama & Ayers

The McCain campaign released a new web ad today that targets Barack Obama’s relationship with William Ayers. The Obama campaign and the leftwing media are trying to convince you that this association is just a “distraction” from the serious issues. I believe this relationship – much more than a mere association – is a serious issue because it tells us a lot about who Barack Obama is, what he believes and the values and ideas that will influence how he governs as president if he is elected in 26 days.

Who Are The Weathermen?

To understand this controversy and William Ayers, you first need to know about the Weather Underground. The group formed in the 1960s after splintering with the radical leftwing organization Students for a Democratic Society. According to a recent Time Magazine report, “While SDS promoted nonviolent protests, the Weathermen aligned themselves with violent groups like the Black Panthers.” As Time noted, the founder of the Weathermen wrote, “There is no example of a peaceful road to fundamental social change.”

Throughout the early 1970s, the Weather Underground claimed responsibility for a series of bombings against government buildings, including the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon and the State Department. As a result of their terrorist activities, the FBI launched a massive manhunt that drove many Weather Underground members into hiding.

How Was William Ayers Involved?

William Ayers was a co-founder of the Weather Underground. In 1969, the Weathermen launched the “Days of Rage” in Chicago, in which a mob ran through several blocks of an affluent neighborhood attacking cars, homes, police officers and businesses. More than two dozen police officers were injured, six Weathermen were shot, and nearly 70 protesters were arrested.

In 1970, the Weatherman bombed the home of a New York judge who was presiding over the trial of a group of Black Panthers. That same year, a letter was sent to the Associated Press, signed by Bernardine Dohrn, promising more bombings. Dohrn was placed on the FBI’s “10 Most Wanted List” for her terrorist activities. While on the run from the authorities, Dorhn and Ayers married and spent years in hiding.

In 1980, Ayers and Dorhn, now with two children, came out of hiding and turned themselves in. Most of the charges against them had already been dropped because of what a court found to be unconstitutional surveillance. Dorhn, however, was sentenced to three years probation and fined.

Unbelievably, Ayers and Dorhn found a refuge in academia. William Ayers is a professor of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, while Dorhn, formerly on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list, is an associate professor of law at Northwestern University.

What is the Ayers-Obama connection?

In debates and interviews, Obama has tried to dismiss his connection to William Ayers by saying that he is just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.” But, in 1995 Obama launched his political career with a fundraiser at William Ayers’ and Bernardine Dohrn’s home.

That same year, Ayers founded the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and Barack Obama was chosen to be the foundation’s first board chairman. Ayers and Obama served together on the board of the Woods Fund from 1999-2002. They regularly appeared together on academic panel discussions.

Unrepentant

Clearly, Ayers is more than just “a guy who lives in my neighborhood.” In an interview this week with ABC’s Charlie Gibson, Obama said of Ayers, “This is a guy who engaged in some despicable acts 40 years ago when I was eight years old. By the time I met him, 10 or 15 years ago, he was a college professor of education at the University of Illinois…” So we are left to assume that at some point, Ayers had a “road to Damascus conversion,” repudiated his terrorist past and radical ways, and has spent the rest of life doing good works.

The only problem with that story is that Ayers has never repudiated his past and seems to be proud of it. In September of 2001, Ayers was interviewed by the New York Times after he published his memoirs about his activities in the Weather Underground. When asked if he regretted his actions, Ayers offered this disgusting retort: “I don’t regret setting bombs. I feel we didn’t do enough.”

Obama and Ayers obviously worked together because they shared common values and beliefs, and as late as 2001 – when Obama was not eight years old, but 40 years old – Ayers remained unrepentant about his past.

It would be bad enough if Ayers were the only leftwing, fringe extremist in Obama’s background, but he is not. And the pattern of disturbing associations – what it says about the ideology and judgment Obama would take with him into the Oval Office – is a critical issue in this campaign.

For the most part it was less than stellar with both candidates stretching the truth when necessary...most experts seeing it stretched way more to the left, as would be expected. But i think the high light for me was the following exchange took place between Tom Brokaw and the Jr. Senator from IL:

Obama: “You’re doing a good job, Tom.”

Could this be the first admittance of the lame stream media being in the tank for Obama? Of course, this is not counting Chris Matthews having chills going up and down his leg as his messiah speaks and nearly anything coming out of the mouth of Keith Olbermann.

Common Sense Fix

Now i realize the fact that i mention "Common sense", that means the vast majority of House and Senate members will avoid it like the plague...but i'm posting this anyway. Financial guru Dave Ramsey got with a few of his friends who just happen to be financial experts and developed a common sense plan for getting rid of this albatross that is hanging around the American tax payer's neck, and it does it with out costing us $700B more in taxes. I encourage you to contact your elected officials who are looking at your wallet and ask them to consider this plan:

Years of bad decisions and stupid mistakes have created an economic nightmare in this country, but $700 billion in new debt is not the answer. As a tax-paying American citizen, I will not support any congressperson who votes to implement such a policy. Instead, I submit the following three steps:

Common Sense Plan.

I. INSURANCE

A. Insure the subprime bonds/mortgages with an underlying FHA-type insurance. Government-insured and backed loans would have an instant market all over the world, creating immediate and needed liquidity.

B. In order for a company to accept the government-backed insurance, they must do two things:

1. Rewrite any mortgage that is more than three months delinquent to a 6% fixed-rate mortgage.
a. Roll all back payments with no late fees or legal costs into the balance. This brings homeowners current and allows them a chance to keep their homes.
b. Cancel all prepayment penalties to encourage refinancing or the sale of the property to pay off the bad loan. In the event of foreclosure or short sale, the borrower will not be held liable for any deficit balance. FHA does this now, and that encourages mortgage companies to go the extra mile while
working with the borrower—again limiting foreclosures and ruined lives.

2. Cancel ALL golden parachutes of EXISTING and FUTURE CEOs and executive team members as long as the company holds these government-insured bonds/mortgages. This keeps underperforming executives from being paid when they don’t do their jobs.

C. This backstop will cost less than $50 billion—a small fraction of the current proposal.

II. MARK TO MARKET

A. Remove mark to market accounting rules for two years on only subprime Tier III bonds/mortgages. This keeps companies from being forced to artificially mark down bonds/mortgages below the value of the underlying mortgages and real estate.

B. This move creates patience in the market and has an immediate stabilizing effect on failing and ailing banks—and it costs the taxpayer nothing.

III. CAPITAL GAINS TAX

A. Remove the capital gains tax completely. Investors will flood the real estate and stock market in search of tax-free profits, creating tremendous—and immediate—liquidity in the markets. Again, this costs the taxpayer nothing.

B. This move will be seen as a lightning rod politically because many will say it is helping the rich. The truth is the rich will benefit, but it will be their money that stimulates the economy. This will enable all Americans to have more stable jobs and retirement investments that go up instead of down. This is not a time for envy, and it’s not a time for politics. It’s time for all of us, as Americans, to stand up, speak out, and fix this mess.

Not exactly Britney, but it looks like Barack Hussein Obama is singing her song. Surprisingly to me though, this video came from BSNBC, which appears to be 95% in the tank for Obama...with the exception of Joe Scarborough, who brought this up.
A lot of people, including myself, have a LOT of doubts about Obama's qualifications for the White House and this gives us yet another reason to be very worried about a "President Obama". Do we really want a person who can't correctly make a vote in the legislature have his finger on the nuke button? Yeah...not so much.

Gianna Jessen is a tremendous and a very courageous young lady who is also a survivor of a botched abortion. She should be dead, but God in His infinite grace and mercy has allowed this young lady to share her testimony of God's goodness and truth. She is truly the face of abortion, and the face that those who feel unborn children are nothing more than a "choice" and the "freedom of privacy" would like to keep hidden.

I was able to hear her share her story last year as well as use the beautiful singing voice that God has blessed her with in a worship service at First Baptist Church of Texarkana and i was blown away. I do hope this television ad does get plenty of air time between now and election day.

First of all, it is evident there aren't many who spend part of their time in Washington DC who do not have some dirt on their hands from this; which is why i showed the list as far as Sen. John McCain. Obviously he has accepted far less in 20 years than others on this list. Once again, this is just a partial list with a lot more names to add.
But you will also notice that the top 3 are from that democrat party demanding "change"...looks like they prefer cash though. Even more interesting ot me thoughb is #2 on the list though. Sen. Barack Hussein Obama (D-IL) ranked #2 on a list showing 20 years of contributions, yet he has only been in the US Senate for 4 years. Interesting...

Who is the partisan?

The Barack Hussein Obama campaign has gone above and beyond in recent days in their desperate attempt to portray Sen. John McCain as being nothing more than the rank and file Republican that would only tow the party line. Of course in doing this they have made their "messiah" out to be the non-partisan answer to our country's "ills" as they would define them. It would be interesting to note this article from The Washington Times:
"Whether looking at bills they have led on or bills they have signed onto, Mr. McCain has reached across the aisle far more frequently and with more members than Mr. Obama since the latter came to the Senate in 2005."

Now, i will give Obama a break here...in his short time in the US Senate, he has spent the vast majority of it either running for President or simply not voting, so it really is hard to really see where he stands on issues of bi-partisanship. But then again, that screams out that this guy has no business trying to get into the Oval Office if he takes no responsibility in his current job.

Regardless though, in the last 3 years a look at the voting record would show that Sen. John McCain has been a lot more likely to "reach across the aisle" with Democrats making up 55% of his political partnerships over the last Congresses and the Junior Senator from Illinois having Republican co-sponsorship on only 13% of his bills presented for a vote. Of course those Obama bipartisan bills, according to this article, deal with vital public policy matters like issuing a stamp in honor of Rosa Parks. I guess that is the "Change we can believe in" is actually extra change for a stamp.

The Washington Times breaks it down further by adding, "...Since 2005, Mr. McCain has led as chief sponsor of 82 bills, on which he had 120 Democratic co-sponsors out of 220 total, for an average of 55 percent. He worked with Democrats on 50 of his bills, and of those, 37 times Democrats outnumber Republicans as co-sponsors." The guy wasn't called a "Maverick" for nothing; and has even been accused of walking across the aisle more often than simply reaching across it. Now we are seeing why.

Then there is B. Hussein Obama. The Washington Times reports that he, "...sponsored 120 bills, of which Republicans co-sponsored just 26, and on only five bills did Republicans outnumber Democrats. Mr. Obama gained 522 total Democratic co-sponsors but only 75 Republicans, for an average of 13 percent of his co-sponsors."

This is supposed to be the answer to the divisiveness in our nation's political arena...moving way to the left? That may be right for San Francisco, but it is not right for America.

Steve Cohen (D-TN), Former Algore campaign chair Donna Brazile, and pseudo actress/political agitator Susan Sarandon make the statement that “Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor.” By this statement they are suggesting at least one of three things, if not all:
1. The role of Jesus being demeaned down to that of a local political activist,
2. Painting Gov. Sarah Palin as nothing more than an uncaring politician who would go as far as killing the Messiah, or…
3. Elevating Barack Obama to the level of the Savior

My first question is what is a community organizer. According to Wikipedia a community organizer is someone who does the work of bringing people who live in close proximity to each other “together to act in their common self-interest. Community organizers act as area-wide coordinators of programs for different agencies in an attempt to meet community needs for various services.” While I can see that this is a valuable tool in inner cities, small towns, or where ever people feel like the government has forgotten about them…to suggest that Jesus was nothing more than a community organizer is nothing short of heresy. Even more so when you consider that modern community organizing is the brain child of Saul Alinsky, the author of the book Rules for Radicals that he dedicated to Lucifer, who he called the “very first radical”

When I look at Scripture and search out the reason Jesus came, I seem to overlook this new idea of Jesus being a community organizer.
• In Luke 19:10 Jesus says, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (NASB)
• In 1 Peter 2:24 the Apostle writes about Jesus, “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.”
• And in 2 Corinthian 5:21 the Apostle Paul said of Jesus, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him”

Did Jesus come to pay the price for the sins of sinful man, or did He come to organize a few members of society who political activists felt were overlooked? To lessen the mission of Christ to that of a political activist is not Biblical, wrong and teetering, if not crossing the line on heresy.

Let’s consider a little more of what Scripture says about Jesus…
• He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, the final Amen
• He is the Ancient of Days, the Author of Life and the Author of Salvation
• He is the Bread of Life
• He is the Chief Cornerstone, Christ our Creator, Our Deliverer
• Our Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace
• He is God
• He is the Good Shepherd and the Great Shepherd
• He is the Great High Priest
• He is the Holy One, the Hope of Glory
• He is the Image of the Invisible God, the Great I Am
• He is the Judge of the living and the dead
• He is King of kings and Lord of lords, Majestic and Mighty
• And NO ONE COMPARES TO HIM!
• The Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and full of truth
• He is the Power of God
• He is the Resurrection and the Life
• He is the Supreme Sacrifice
• He is the Way, the Truth and the Life
And He cannot be reduced to a political activist seeking a “revolution” at the local government level!

I realize when it is all said and done this is nothing more than a political stunt to glorify one candidate and to put down another…but I refuse to have it done in the name of my Lord and Savior. Jesus is the one who paid the price for my sins, as well as those who are demeaning His name and His mission.

Was Jesus a community organizer? The Scripture gives us a very clear and a very certain NO!
But Jesus is the one who came and lived the life we could never live (sinless) and died the death we deserved to die (for our sins) so that by grace through faith alone we can be saved (Ephesians 2:8-9).

The following is the statement given by President George W. Bush on the evening of September 11, 2001...the day our country was attacked by Islamofascists in an attempt to destroy us.

Good evening. Today, our fellow citizens, our way of life, our very freedom came under attack in a series of deliberate and deadly terrorist acts. The victims were in airplanes, or in their offices; secretaries, businessmen and women, military and federal workers; moms and dads, friends and neighbors. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil, despicable acts of terror.

The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings, fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief, terrible sadness, and a quiet, unyielding anger. These acts of mass murder were intended to frighten our nation into chaos and retreat. But they have failed; our country is strong.

A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.

America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.

Today, our nation saw evil, the very worst of human nature. And we responded with the best of America -- with the daring of our rescue workers, with the caring for strangers and neighbors who came to give blood and help in any way they could.

Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans. Our military is powerful, and it's prepared. Our emergency teams are working in New York City and Washington, D.C. to help with local rescue efforts.

Our first priority is to get help to those who have been injured, and to take every precaution to protect our citizens at home and around the world from further attacks.

The functions of our government continue without interruption. Federal agencies in Washington which had to be evacuated today are reopening for essential personnel tonight, and will be open for business tomorrow. Our financial institutions remain strong, and the American economy will be open for business, as well.

The search is underway for those who are behind these evil acts. I've directed the full resources of our intelligence and law enforcement communities to find those responsible and to bring them to justice. We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.

I appreciate so very much the members of Congress who have joined me in strongly condemning these attacks. And on behalf of the American people, I thank the many world leaders who have called to offer their condolences and assistance.

America and our friends and allies join with all those who want peace and security in the world, and we stand together to win the war against terrorism. Today marks the 7th year since the horrific attack on our great country by Muslim extremists who are dead set on destroying us and our way of life. Driven by hate they flew 2 planes into the World Trade Center Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon and then a 4th plane was forced down into a field in PA, no doubt headed for another target of great importance. The heroism we saw on that day and in the following days was awe inspiring. I still get chills when i remember all of our congressional leaders, both parties, singing "God bless America" on the steps of the US Capital...united, as Americans. Never before, and i pray that never again, have we been suckered punched in such a way by our enemies. It brought out the best in our country, and sadly in some ways, 7 years later we are once again seeing the worst at times as conspiracy theorists try to blame our own country for this.
I am thankful that we have not been attacked and have remained safe in spite of additional threats of terrorism over the last 7 years. I'm also thankful that Sen. John McCain used better judgement and requested that both he and Sen. Barack Obama refrain from politicking today so that the focus can be where it needs to be...the victims and the heroes of 9/11.
The following is a prayer written by Pastor Max Lucado just days after the 9/11 attacks, i thought i would share it since it speaks as loudly today as it did 7 short years ago.

We’re still hoping we’ll wake up. We’re still hoping we’ll open a sleepy eye and think, “What a horrible dream.”

But we won’t, will we, Father? What we saw was not a dream. Planes did gouge towers. Flames did consume our fortress. People did perish. It was no dream and, dear Father, we are sad.

There is a ballet dancer who will no longer dance and a doctor who will no longer heal. A church has lost her priest, a classroom is minus a teacher. Cora ran a food pantry. Paige was a counselor and Dana, dearest Father, Dana was only three years old. (Who held her in those final moments?)

We are sad, Father. For as the innocent are buried, our innocence is buried as well. We thought we were safe. Perhaps we should have known better. But we didn’t.

It would appear that Osama Hussein Obama, the designated Messiah of the left has chosen a winner in the Lefty Veep-stakes and the winner (or loser) appears to be Joe Biden (D-DE), the 6 term Senator who has ran for and lost the Democrat presidential nomination on 3 different occasions.

I think this is going to be way too easy and way too much fun, especially considering some of the idiotic (borderline racist) comments Biden has made (or perhaps he just plagiarized them), and this dialogue from one of the hundred or so democrat debates from the primary season, this one hosted by ABC's De-Face The Nation host George Stephanopoulos:

STEPHANOPOULOS: You were asked, “Is he ready?” You said, “I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the- job-training.”

BIDEN: I think that — I stand by the statement.

One more thing, if the message is "Change" why is he choosing someone who has been part of the problem in Washington for the last 30+ years????

The Strange Persistence of Moral Sanity

Dr. Albert Mohler addressed the latest political sex scandal and it's roots in modern relativism that defines the left.

The fall of yet another politician in a sex scandal has added a note of Schadenfreude to the political season. Coming so quickly after the fall of former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer, the admission by former Senator John Edwards of an affair during his presidential campaign seemed to catch many observers off-guard.

Sexual immorality crosses all partisan lines. Spitzer and Edwards are prominent Democrats, but equally prominent Republicans have been caught in the same web. There is no room for partisan calculation here.

One interesting aspect of the Edwards saga is the near-universal assumption that, had Edwards won the primary race for the Democratic presidential nomination, he (and his party) would have been fatally wounded in terms of the November election. This assumption, revealed in media coverage of the scandal, seems to be common to both liberals and conservatives, Republicans and Democrats. The assumption is probably valid.

The American people are incredibly forgiving, but John Edwards violated a basic sense of public dignity and personal morality. The fact that his wife, Elizabeth, is in the fight of her life with cancer only adds to the public's sense of outrage at his violation of his marital vows. His repeated lies added fuel to the fire. On top of all this, the narcissism and recklessness of his affair revealed a poisonous disregard for his responsibilities, his supporters, his family, his friends, and the public.

The American people were confronted once again with broken promises, broken commitments, and broken hearts laid bare in public. Even now, the public seems braced for further revelations in this scandal.

But what of that near-universal assumption that this scandal should end the political career of John Edwards? Some observers reject that assumption.

Writing for Psychology Today [warning: objectionable language], Roy F. Baumeister categorically rejects the idea that a sex scandal should be considered politically significant at all. He writes: "My thesis is that the American people and their chances for good government are the ones most harmed by these scandals. In fact, I recommend that we should stop considering sexual behavior as a qualification for political office."

That is an audacious recommendation, but it is not unprecedented. Similar arguments followed the fall of Elliot Spitzer. The public is not buying the argument.

Baumeister continues:

I can imagine people objecting that sexual decision making reveals a man's character. (I refer specifically to men here, because so far only men have had their political careers ruined by sex scandals.) This argument seems lame to me. A much better and more relevant test of character would involve how the person has managed his money. Has he always paid his bills on time? If the answer is no, that is much more reason to question his suitability for public office than an occasional bit of unsanctioned sex.

That is an amazing and revealing argument. Christians must reject that argument on its face. The Bible clearly affirms that what is done with the body is directly related to the soul. Christianity is incompatible with a Gnosticism that divides the body and soul so that sexual behavior and character can be separated.

Baumeister even goes so far as to argue that the public is drawn to support high-testosterone men who, by virtue of that testosterone, are also likely to seek multiple sex partners. "High testosterone does not promote sexual fidelity," he asserts. "It makes men want to have more different partners. On top of the self-selection of adultery-prone men into politics, the opportunities probably increase for a successful politician."

In the end, he warns that the nation is "not so oversupplied with brilliant, wonderful, effective politicians that we can afford to disqualify a substantial number of them based on something as irrelevant as a bit of wild oats." An extended adulterous affair encased in lies and betrayal is merely "a bit of wild oats?"

Well, there you have it -- it's not the man . . . it's the testosterone. It's not a moral scandal, just a bit of wild oats. Most Americans recognize those arguments to be patent nonsense. Even in these confused and confusing times, some moral sanity remains.

So the SCOTUS manages to get one right today by acknowledging that the Founding Father's might have known what they were talking about when they wrote the constitution...imagine that, 5 of them agreed with the law of the land. Of course i'm referring to the ban on handguns in DC (where for the record only CRIMINALS have been carrying them in recent years) that was overturned by a 5-4 decision today.

Now i'm listening to Dennis Henigan on Just In W/Laura Ingraham speaking on behalf of the Brady Center, which has become yet another left leaning organization that might have begun with good intentions but managed to sell out to those who think America and Americans are the problem, and i can't help but laugh at what he said. And i quote, "Look, the people of the District of Columbia supported this law for 30 years, it is a shame that their judgement has been over-ridden by the United States Supreme Court."

OK...so it's OK for the CA Supreme Court to over-ride the will of the people who voted against allowing this so called gay marriage as a "right", and it was OK for an appeals court in VA to overturn a ban on partial birth abortion (which is killing a child late in term in a barbaric and horrific way); but no court should ever rule in favor of the US Constitution! Made up "gay rights" is great, a so called "right to choose" that kills an unborn child is to be celebrated, but not a true blue American right that is spelled out in the law of the land; uh-uh...no way! Hypocrisy, it never ceases to amaze me.

Radio talk show and CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck recently had enough with the hate/blame America leftists who dominate the moron media and decided to share just a few things that makes America the greatest country on God's green earth. It was good enough to share...enjoy!

The last few days I haven't read the newspaper. I read it on Sunday and that's when I said, you know what, I'm not going to read the newspaper until I have to go back to work, because I read this story from the Associated Press. Everything seemingly is spinning out of control. Washington, Associated Press: Midwestern levees are bursting. Polar bears are adrift. Gas prices are skyrocketing. Home values are abysmal. Airfares, college tuition and health care border on unaffordable. Wars without end rage in Iraq, Afghanistan and against terrorism. Horatio Alger, twist in your grave.

The can-do, bootstrap approach embedded in the American psyche is under assault. Eroding it is a dour powerlessness that is chipping away at the country's sturdy conviction that destiny can be commanded with sheer courage and perseverance. The sense of helplessness is even reflected in this year's presidential election. Each contender offers a sense of order and hope. Even so a battered public seems discouraged by the onslaught of dispiriting things.

Let me tell you something, America. That's where I stopped reading because this is nothing but a lie. I know how you feel because it's the way I feel. I know that you say to yourself, how are we ever going to get out of this. Where is that person that is going to lead us out of this? I feel the same way you feel when I fill my tank with gas. I feel like you do every time I watch television and I listen to John McCain or Barack Obama speak. When I hear that they are making a priority of finding biodegradable balloons for the Democratic National Convention, I think to myself, that's your priority? Biodegradable balloons? When I hear that they have just passed a bill in the Senate to bail out 400,000 more people out of bad mortgages, these are people that were too risky for government loans and they're allotting each of these people $750,000. If you're too risky for a government loan, why are you buying a 3/4 of a million dollar home? I feel the same way you do. But maybe I have something that you don't because I rarely have this when I'm away from people. But when I travel around the country and when I hear the voices of the average person in talk radio, when you call in, I know where our strength really is. It's in you.

Now, we're looking for a leader, but since when did America start waiting around for a leader? It shows that the lie of our government in the last 100 years has really taken root deep inside of you. We're pioneers. All the way from the pilgrims to today we're pioneers. We were people that took chances. We were people that took risks. We were people that did the unthinkable and we still are. But every step of the way the government is in there and the media is in there telling you that you're not. Well, you are. You are a pioneer. You are the leader of your family. You are the leader we've been looking for. The media is focusing on what everything -- everything that's wrong with America, and I play a part in that. I think I give you a different spin than the rest of the media. I tell you what's wrong with America and what's really causing it, and it ain't you. So let me tell you some of the things that are right with America because we still lead the world in the principles that matter most, the rules of law, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from an oppressive government, although that one's slipping by the wayside rapidly.

So let's talk about our economy. For everything that I've said about the economy and how much trouble we are in, I have also said look at the body blows this economy has taken since 9/11, one right after another. Body blow, body blow, body blow. Consider that California has the same GDP as the entire country of France. Illinois has the same GDP as the entire country of Mexico. New York has the entire GDP of Brazil. Florida, the same as South Korea. Texas, the entire GDP of Canada. Michigan, the GDP of Argentina. Missouri, the GDP of Poland. The projected GDP of the U.S. in 2007 is just shy of the next four biggest economies on planet Earth combined: Japan, Germany, China, and Great Britain, combined. That's how big this company of ours is. When you think of it just that way and you think of it as a company whose earnings are bigger than Japan, Germany, China and the U.K. combined, you think to yourself maybe we should get somebody who knows a little something about business to run this country.

We topped the world again in technological economic innovation. World survey found 77% of Americans are very proud of their nationality. We're tied with those from Ireland. Canadians come in second at 60%, British 53%. 43% of, oh, the gods of Sweden are very proud of their nationality and only 20% of Germans. So what's right with America? Well, you know we talk all the time about nut job college professors, liberal indoctrination. But the truth is while all of that's going on, our universities are still ranked among the highest in the world. We attract over half a million foreign students every year. They leave their country to come here to study. We open up the same colleges and universities to over 80,000 foreign professors, scholars, educators. We've always wanted and continue to want the best and the brightest to teach and educate, our best, our brightest. That's a part of what makes America great. It's not us versus them. We seek out talent. We invite talent. We don't care about their nationality. We don't care about their race. We want them here. Unfortunately those in Washington are now forcing us to ship their best and their brightest back home. But even with that happening we still have over 250 Nobel Prize winners. We have more than double the number of Nobel Prize winners than the British who have the second highest number of Nobel Prize winners. Double number two. More Americans have been awarded the Nobel Prize than individuals from the next three runner-up countries combined. We have more students studying at universities and colleges, about 14 million. More than India, Japan and China do combined. Even though their combined populations dwarf ours, it's not only the number, but the reality that anyone can go to the best colleges and universities in America. Anyone can go to college. The doors of the university are not reserved for the select, those with the right family connection. It's not reserved only for the children of the political elite, but your son or daughter, the son or daughters of farmers, the son or daughter of a radio deejay or a baker. They can all go to college, top tier college universities, if they work hard. And education isn't just formal in America.

What's right with America? People are allowed to have the freedom to go and do. Americans invented the cotton gin. It revolutionized the world. Isn't it funny that the government didn't come up with the cotton gin. As we talk about illegal immigration, what was the argument against abolishing slavery? The South couldn't pick the cotton. The South couldn't get it done. Their economy would collapse. We fought the Civil War. The cotton gin replaced the slave. Bifocals were invented by Benjamin Franklin. Meat could be stored all year in a refrigerator after an American inventor, Oliver Evans, drafted the plans for the refrigerator. The sewing machine was American. Safety pin, telephone, incandescent light bulb, cash register, Ferris wheel, crayons, bubble gum, photocopiers, the artificial heart, the automobile, the first flight airplane. Coca-Cola. By invented the Popsicle.

Healthcare, our healthcare, oh, have you seen the stories on healthcare? Let me give you the true story on healthcare. In 1900 the life expectancy in America was 50 years old, life expectancy. You were dead by 50. Today it's more than 75 years. But it's more than just living longer. Our healthcare system, our prescription drugs have allowed us to lead and experience more fuller lives. In too many countries it appears that people who are just too old, just too old, have nothing to do but wait and die. Consider this. The vice president of the United States, Dick Cheney, has had four heart attacks, four. He's not only active. He's the vice president. What a commentary on a broken healthcare system. People want to focus on the negative of our healthcare. Say, yeah, but the benefits are only for the rich. Really? Unfortunately the facts don't prove that out.

In 1900 a rich person lived to 60. The poor person died at 45. 15 years separation. Today the life expectancy of an affluent person in America, a rich person, 78 years old. Poor person, somebody who lives in the gutter in America, 74. A four-year difference. Yes, the rich have advanced and they have benefitted, but the poor have advanced and benefitted even more, and that is what makes America great. Right now in the United States we spend roughly $2 trillion on healthcare. We spend more than any other country in the world per capita averaging $4,631 per person. That's more than Switzerland, Germany, Canada and any other country in the world. Heart disease, we haven't conquered it but we're beating it. Death by heart disease, fallen 67% in the last 50 years. The much talked about Canadian system, consider that 400 Canadians in the full throes of heart attack or other cardiac emergency have been sent to the United States, over the border because no hospital can provide lifesaving care that they require there in Canada. In the United Kingdom one in eight patients wait more than a year for hospital treatment. The British government just recently set a new goal, to keep wait times to less than 18 weeks. That, by the way, is four months. In Canada almost a million citizens, a million citizens can waiting for necessary surgery and more than a million Canadians can't find a regular doctor. You think our healthcare is so bad, let me show you the healthcare system up in Canada that everybody wants us to have. In a small town in Norwood, Ontario, they have a drawing every week. Every week they have a drawing. Somebody wins, somebody who lives in Norwood Ontario, somebody wins the right to go see the town's doctor. Congratulations. You are a winner in the Canadian healthcare system.

Victimizing the victims

Rep. James Fagan, a Democrat lawmaker from the liberal mecca of Massachusetts made some incredibly asinine comments during debate last month on the state House floor that has set off a firestorm, and rightly so. Fagan said that as a defense attorney he would "rip apart" child rape victims who are forced to take the stand if his state passed mandatory sentencing for child sex offenders.

He said, "I'm gonna rip them apart...I'm going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined, that when they’re 8 years old, they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”

The "draconian" (as he called them) mandatory sentencing would require these predators to serve a minimum of 10-15 years for their role in destroying the life of a child...personally i think 10-15 years is probably a little too generous. Of course for Fagan i'm sure the real "victim" is the sick predator who should be lucky he doesn't live in Louisiana.

When all is said and done Fagan is just another example of the sad state of leftist liberal politics in America if he thinks Jessica's Law is "bad law".

At a recent campaign stop Barack Hussein Obama was overheard saying, "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. 'He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention that he's black?'" Only in the demented minds of the modern democrat party can "inexperience" be put on the same level as "race".

Well, it looks like the candidate of "Change" is about the same old fear mongering and race baiting that has worked for the democrats in the past. All that is missing now is the ad saying a vote for McCain is a vote for lynching or more dragging deaths in Texas.

The Coming Great Divide - There is No Place to Hide

Today's blog post from Dr. Al Mohler, President of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY...a little more from this great theologian about the attack on democracy and decency thanks to the CA Supreme Court this past week. "Voters, we don't need not stinkin' voters"

When the California Supreme Court struck down that state's definition of marriage as a union of a man and a woman it announced a great social and moral revolution. Unless reversed by means of a constitutional amendment, this decision effectively redefined marriage and set a precedent that will reverberate across the nation.

At the same time, this moral revolution unleashed by the California court will also reveal a deep divide between churches and denominations. Issues of biblical authority have divided Christian (and Jewish) denominations and churches and have been the focus of intense debates and controversies.

One unavoidable outcome of the legalization of same-sex marriage is that the great divide between conservative and liberal churches and denominations will become glaringly evident in a way that has not been the case thus far. The singular question of whether churches perform and recognize same-sex "marriages" will tell a much larger story.

At least until this new phenomenon, churches and denominations across the board shared an understanding of marriage and a vocabulary that included words like "husband" and "wife." In the world before same-sex unions, that made sense. In a world without a shared understanding of marriage, even the vocabulary falls apart.

The Los Angeles Times offers an interesting look into the future in its May 19, 2008 edition. In the article, the paper reported on a cross-section of area churches, synagogues, and mosques.

From the article:

Pastor Gregory L. Waybright struggled from the pulpit Sunday to reconcile the laws of God with the laws of man. Though he wanted his church "to be a welcoming and loving house," he told worshipers at Lake Avenue Church in Pasadena, the California Supreme Court's decision last week to legalize gay marriage in California "is a contradiction of what God's word says."

The 4-3 ruling, which held that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry, has prompted conservative and liberal congregations alike to discuss whether gay and lesbian members will be allowed to wed in their churches, synagogues and temples."

These are the kinds of issues every religion has to grapple with," said James A. Donahue, president of the Graduate Theological Union, a Berkeley-based consortium of theological schools.

"How do you factor in the role of contemporary human rights, civil rights, the data about homosexuality" with "core traditions and beliefs?"

At Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church of Pasadena, the mood was celebratory Sunday, with Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" played at services in honor of the decision.

At Congregation Kol Ami in West Hollywood -- which offers "outreach to the gay, lesbian and bisexual community," according to its website -- Rabbi Denise L. Eger's e-mail box was filled almost instantly with requests from joyful congregants wanting to get married.

The polarity on biblical authority is glaringly apparent in this description of the coming reality in California -- unless, that is, voters amend the constitution.

As the paper explains:

In recent years, conflicts over homosexuality and the Bible have unsettled many denominations, especially such mainline Protestant churches as Methodists, Presbyterians, Evangelical Lutherans and Episcopalians. Although the specifics vary, the controversies for all of these faith groups and for Conservative Judaism have revolved broadly around whether to provide official recognition to the unions of same-sex couples and whether to allow openly gay and lesbian clergy.

Thursday's court decision is expected to add fuel to the debate, with several denominations poised to again take up gay-related issues at their national conventions this year. William McKinney, president of the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley and a professor of American religion there, said the ruling was applauded on his campus, which is a multidenominational, theologically liberal Christian seminary. Yet he said he felt an element of trepidation as well."

We're celebrating it on the one hand," McKinney said, noting that San Francisco's 2004 decision allowing same-sex weddings had given many people, both gay and straight, new appreciation for the powerful symbolism of marriage." On the other hand, though, this sets us up for another round of the culture wars," he said. "As a straight, married man, I feel for my gay friends whose private life is once again going to be the subject of public debate."

The issue of biblical authority is central to this controversy, as is almost always the case. This becomes abundantly clear in an interesting statement from a rabbi:

For Rabbi Harold M. Schulweis, who heads the Conservative Jewish congregation at Valley Beth Shalom in Encino, the court's decision has changed the way he will handle celebrating the unions of gay and lesbian couples at his synagogue. "I did not in the past. I will now," he said in an interview. "I was really waiting for this [decision]. . . . From my point of view, it's a very courageous thing and is part of the evolution of religious mores."

Schulweis has been a rabbi for more than half a century and has seen his religion evolve, he said, first allowing women into the full "ritual life of the community," then ordaining them as rabbis and cantors, and eventually embracing homosexuals." It's one of the most exciting parts of seeing religion as not static and inflexible but as sensitive to different times and different information and different knowledge," Schulweis said. "What in the world did people in the biblical time know about homosexuals?"

Take a close look at that question. When the rabbi asks, "What in the world did people in the Bible time know about homosexuals?," he clearly indicates that he sees the Bible as a human book that reveals no more then the attitudes and prejudices and limitations of its human authors. There is no acknowledgement at all that the Bible reveals what God would have us to know about homosexuality.

That, in the end, is the point. Is the Bible merely a human book? If so, then marriage can be anything we decide it should be. But, if the Bible is the Word of God, then we are bound by it. It's as simple as that.

As The Los Angeles Times makes clear, there is no place to hide.

California Supreme Court Redefines Marriage

I was in the library with my son earlier, and as he looked for books for himself i thumbed through this great little book about our own US Constitution. It reminded me of the good old days when every vote counted, everyone vote carried the same weight, and elections meant something. Since 2000, with Algore counting only the votes he thought were necessary to win and the debacle with the democrats this year...those days are long gone; but what has taken place in California with their state Supreme Court ruling against the will of the voters, it appears a new low has been reached. This was written today by Dr. Albert Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, on his blog.

The California Supreme Court's 4-3 decision striking down the state's definition of marriage as a union of a man and a woman throws open the door for a massive redefinition of human relationships. The people of California approved Proposition 22 by a huge margin in 2000, clearly stating their understanding of marriage and their desire to protect marriage from legal revision. By a one-vote margin, their state Supreme Court renounced the will of the people. The ruling is both revolutionary and radical. It sets the stage for a much broader reorganization of human society.

Chief Justice Ronald M. George, writing for the majority, pushed the argument for same-sex marriage far beyond where any court had taken it before. The decision identified marriage as a "fundamental right," thus opening the door for infinite challenges beyond same-sex marriage.

The court also declared sexual orientation to be a class protected by a "strict scrutiny" test of all legislation and regulation. In so doing, the California court became the first in the nation to apply this test on the basis of sexual orientation. This move also opens the door for much broader challenges to laws and regulations across the board.

Unless stayed by another court, the ruling takes effect in 30 days, when California authorities will be required to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. California voters will have another opportunity to protect marriage in November, when a proposed constitutional amendment will come before the electorate. The stakes now could not be higher.

History and Geography check please

Well, i have to really wonder about the quality of an Ivy League education seeing how well Barack Hussein Obama has done with some of those freshman level course facts.

The most recent was the Freshman Senator from Illinois saying, "Over the last 15 months, we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states, I think, one left to go... Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to." OK, let's do the math here...57 apparently continental states plus 1, being Alaska AND Hawaii equals 50?!?!?! We still have fifty states in the United States of America, right? I haven't missed anything, have i?

I do realize that those on the left are going to sit back and say, "Oh, poor Obama; he's just so tired from all of the travel and politicing that he just misspoke from being tired." Yeah, OK...but let's face the facts, even though i know that is something liberals usually try to avoid; but if it was President George W. Bush saying this you will not hear the end of it from the Moron Media or the hatefilled liberal bloggers. And lets not forget Sen. John McCain who would have been crucified as being "senile" or for having a "senior moment." There of course is a word for this...hypocrisy.

A few days before though, as Barack Hussein Obama continues to find new ways to defend his doctrine of appeasment when he said, "I trust the American people to understand that it is not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but to our enemies, like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did." OK...that must have been some of the classes i missed during studies for my BA in history. I'm assuming that the Roosevelt he speaks of is FDR, the father of big government, who as i recall NEVER sat down in order to make peace with Hitler. And then Kennedy...yeah, don't recall him having any heart to hearts with Castro either. And of course Truman...mmm, yeah, didn't he get us into the Korean War? And i'm still kind of stuck on when he met for a round of negotiations with Kim Il-Sung leading up to 1950.

I guess it might be some of that new learning found in our public school systems that also allows for students to graduate without ever learning how to read.

One step forward...a mile of steps backwards

I'm listening to Jeremiah Wright's rants and raves to the National Press Club, and all i can think is how far our country has come in racial harmony...and how far back he is willing to take us. He claims he wants "reconciliation", yet his speech is nothing more the divisive hate mongering based on bad theology, incorrect exegesis of Scripture and attacks on those whose skin color looks more like mine than his.

I find it hard to believe that the "black church" that he so brags on is really like this...and those i know who are leading traditionally black churches and the few i have been in are nothing like what i see with him.

Yet through it all i hear nothing about the sin of mankind...only the sins of white America. And i hear nothing about Christ's death on the cross for my sins and his sins...but i hear him pull the words of Christ out of context to support is ridiculous positions. And finally there is nothing about salvation coming by grace through faith alone in Christ...but only that Christ is for him and his false assumptions based on bad theology.

He is a mockery to the pastoral ministry that i have given my life in service to God in and the worst enemy of real racial reconciliation to our great country.

There will be more on this later when i read more of the transcripts so that i can give specifics on how WRONG he really is.

Are you kidding me!?!?!?

Barack Hussein Obama was giving a speech where he apparently is pandering to those who feel that unborn children should be denied the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness because of a woman's so called "right to choose" death...and made one of the most shocking statements i think i have ever heard from the left. He claims that he wants to teach his own daughters moral values, which i do applaud if this is true, but then said that if either one of them makes a "mistake" then he doesn't want them to be "punished with a baby." I guess if you feel the birth of a child is nothing more than a "mistake" and a "punishment", then you have no reason to let that child live.

As bad as that was he went on say he also didn't want them to be punished with an STD at the age of 16. So, not only would a child be punishment in Obama's twisted world, but it is also comparable to an STD!!! And this is the leading candidate for the White House for the democrat party? This is the person that the left in our country want to carry their banner as the leader of their party? Stop the world...i think i want off!

Not once have i thought Barack Hussein Obama as being the answer for our country, unless it was a really stupid question, but this should seal the deal for conservatives who are considering supporting this man. This is absolutely disgraceful.

What is Black Liberation Theology?

With the recent revelation of Barack Hussein Obama’s long time pastor, spiritual advisor and mentor, Jeremiah Wright preaching a message from his church pulpit that was anti-American, full of hate and had very strong political leanings…I thought it was necessary to consider the basis for what he was doing. Mr. Wright claims to be a student and practitioner of this so called “Black Liberation Theology”, a biblically unsound doctrine that found its beginnings in the racially sensitive decade of the 60's.

According to Wikipedia this racially divisive teaching "...seeks to interpret the gospel of Jesus against the backdrop of historical and contemporary racism. The message of black theology is that the African American struggle for liberation is consistent with the gospel--every theological statement must be consistent with, and perpetuate, the goals of liberation." What is missing from this "gospel" is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, "Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures" (ESV). This means that in this so called theology you will hear about the freedom of the black man as they would define it, but you will not hear about the true freedom that comes with knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (John 8:31-32).

James Cone is considered to be the leading "theologian" (and i use that term loosly since theology is really the study of God and knowing God...which isn't what this black liberation theology is about) in this field. His book, A Black Theology of Liberation is considered the foundational work for what amounts to being nothing more than a racial and political bias that fuels hatred and anger. It is in this book that Cone wrote, "Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us, if God is not against white racists, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods that do not belong to the black community." (Page 27) This is the "god" that is being proclaimed from the pulpit of Jeremiah Wright and that Barack Hussein Obama has listened to for the last 20 years.

Cone also writes, "The black theologian must reject any conception of God which stifles black self-determination by picturing God as a God of all peoples. Either God is identified with the oppressed to the point that their experience becomes God's experience, or God is a God of racism...The blackness of God means that God has made the oppressed condition God's own condition. This is the essence of the Biblical revelation. By electing Israelite slaves as the people of God and by becoming the Oppressed One in Jesus Christ, the human race is made to understand that God is known where human beings experience humiliation and suffering...Liberation is not an afterthought, but the very essence of divine activity." (Page 63-64) While God is all about liberating mankind, Cone and Wright are greatly mistaken to think that it is about liberating one race for political gain.

God's liberation is for mankind from the penalty of their own sin. The sins of one race are no greater than another in God's eyes, because sin is sin...and all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; apparently this fact is ommited from the black liberation pulpits since the "sins of white America" are the only ones that truly matter in their warped opinions. Once again the Apostle Paul said, "But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it-- the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins." (Romans 3:21-25).

For 20 years Barack Obama has sat under the teachings of Jeremiah Wright...and for 20 years he had every opportunity to leave the Trinity United Church of Christ if he disagreed; but he didn't. Is this really what we are looking for in our next president?

Today marks the 5th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq after Saddam Hussein repeatedly refused to cooperate with an other wise useless UN to release and reveal the truth about a possible weapons program. Obviously this has brought out every anti-war kook from sea to shining sea...and for many of them, it appears that this is the one day of the year they actually get up before noon.

In their honor i thought i would help them advertise their ignorance a little bit. A few weeks ago, after the city of Berkley decided to ban the United States Marine Corps from maintaining a recruiting office in their granola city (full of fruits, nuts and flakes) Comedy Central decided to send an under cover reporter in to interview the anti-war lefties. This chosen warrior once served in the USMC himself and seems like a fitting choice to me to venture into the code pinkies. Here is the video:

My favorite part of this is when one protester says it's their free speech right to protest the Marines, and the the interviewer then asks, "If only there was an organization that was sworn to defend that free speech..." (like the USMC.)
Her response was, "Wouldn't that be great!"
It's always good to know who could possibly be cancelling out my well researched, thought out and educated vote.

Finally people are starting to realize with Barack Hussein Obama that all that glistens is not really gold. With so many on the right being criticized for keeping and maintaining traditional and Biblical values that are no longer considered "politically correct" by many on the left, i was wondering if Sen. Obama would continue to get a free ride based on his membership for the last 20 years at a church that preaches against the United States of America, seeks racial division and uses the bully pulpit to make political statements.

I've personally been annoyed with the constant emails telling me that Obama is a muslim or Obama is the anti-Christ...to the point of actually having to defend the man; but his membership with the racially divisive and hate mongering Trinity United Church of Christ is indefensible. His pastor Jeremiah Wright, a self professed follower of the "liberation theology" of the 60's (which is no where near being Biblical or Christian theology) has turned his worship services into anti-American rants, attacks on our national leaders and even attacks on Bill and Hillary Clinton. Now keep in mind, that if a conservative Southern Baptist pastor were to do such a thing, not only would they be hung in effigy, they would quickly lose their tax exempt status and have the IRS locking the doors quicker than you can say "tithe".

Obama apparently has thrown his spiritual leader under the back of the segregated bus because in an effort to cover his backside and do damage control Sen. Obama went as far as to allow himself to be interviewed by that "evil, right winged, conservative mouth piece" Fox News...pretty desperate, huh. I do want to point out one thing Obama mentions in this interview, "If I had thought that was the tenor or tone on an ongoing basis of his sermons, then yes, I don't think it would've been reflective of my values or my faith experience...If I had heard them repeated, I would've quit."

He is the member of a large and very well known church where all one has to do is a simple search on You Tube to find videos from Jeremiah Wright from up to a year ago...with the same hateful and race baiting filled venom we have seen clips of over the last couple of days. All Obama had to do was contact anyone at this so called church to find out what kind of propaganda was being proclaimed from the pulpit of Jeremiah Wright...or better yet, does a church this side not put out a newsletter? How about the church website Sen. Obama? In short, only an idiot would have not known what kind of filth was coming from the mouth of Jeremiah Wright on Sunday mornings.

I pastor a church where we have 80-100 people on most Sunday mornings, and apparently news travels pretty fast as to what i preach. I maintain our church website personally and it will tell the casual seeker what we believe, why we believe it, and what i am preaching on. Even 20-30 miles away people seem to know what i preach, and if i were to preach something controversial it would get around even quicker. So i really find it hard to believe that Barack Obama had no idea that Jeremiah Wright was preaching such rhetoric and propaganda being a 20 year member of this organization.

I hope this is not over just because Jeremiah Wright has allegedly left the Obama campaign as an advisor; because i think Barack Obama still has a lot of explaining to do. "I'm not there enough" is not nearly a good enough excuse and does not excuse the fact that Barack Obama has said in public that he is "proud" of his race baiting pastor.

And just for the record to all of you well intentioned (but misguided) liberals out there wanting to split hairs, John McCain being endorsed by John Hagee whose end of times theology might appear to be anti-Catholic fails in comparison to Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright. John McCain was endorsed by Pastor Hagee, a basic political endoresment...John McCain has not supported the ministry of Hagee for the last 20 years; so don't try to compare apples and oranges. I'm sick of the double standard and the hypocrisy of the left, and i think it is about time this is coming to light!

The New Front to the War on Terror

One of the struggles our men and women in uniform have had with our war on terror is knowing who the enemy is. In places like Iraq and Afghanistan those militant Islamofascists can easily blend in with the landscape and the way of life with the average Muslim until their time to strike comes. It has made things difficult to say the least according to many reports from these heroes protecting our freedoms abroad.

Apparently we have a new front to the war on terror, right here within our borders and the primary target is our own US military. Last week's cowardly bombing of a military recruiting station in Times Square is just one of many attacks on our military various ways. Michelle Malkin is keeping track of this for us and reports the following:
***March 2003. Ithaca, NY anti-war zealots plot to pour blood on the walls of a recruiting center. On St. Patrick’s Day, wielding cups of their own blood, they entered a Lansing military recruitment office and splashed the human blood over recruiting posters, military cutouts and the American flag.

***January 20, 2005. At Seattle Central Community College, Army recruiter Sgt. Jeff Due and his colleague, Sgt. 1st Class Douglas Washington were surrounded by an angry mob of 500 anti-war students. The recruiters’ table was destroyed; their handouts torn apart. The protesters threw water bottles and newspapers at the soldiers…

***Feb. 1, 2005. At a South Toledo, Ohio recruitment center, unhinged protesters hurled manure all over the building. They broke windows and sprayed vulgar grafitti … on office property.

***Mid-Feb. 2005. 20-year-old anti-war goon Brendan Walsh is sentenced to five years in federal prison for hurling a Molotov cocktail through the window of a Vestal, NY military recruitment office in 2003.

***Jan. 2007. Anti-war radicals lay siege to the US Capitol and smash windows at the recruitment center on 14th and L. [In] Pittsburgh anti-recruiter organizers shut down a military recruitment station for a whole day. They brandish hateful signs [reading]: “Recruiters are child predators.”

***Jan. 2008. The Code Pink/City Council siege at the Berkeley recruiting center reaches a boiling point. Protesters chain themselves to the station to shut it down and vandalize the windows with bloody handprints.

***Feb. 2008. Anarchists trash the recruiting station at 14th and L in Washington, D.C., which has been subjected to multiple attacks.

***March 2008. A bomb goes off at the frequently targeted Times Square recruitment center.

It is one thing to fight an enemy like Islamofascism from the outside that hates our way of life and our freedom; but for us to also have to fight anarchists and hate filled liberals from within is nothing short of treason!
And in the fall, when some of these groups go to the polls...keep in mind who they will be voting for!

Dr. Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University, has been one of the great defenders of the sanctity of life and traditional marriage in our time. One of his students, Sherif Gergis, a 2008 Princeton Graduate and Rhodes Scholar, has written a powerful letter to U.S. Senator Barack Obama on the subject of the protection of unborn human life. Professor George has asked that the following letter be read carefully and distributed widely.

Dear Senator Obama:

As an immigrant from Kenya, your father found new hope in America’s noble principles and vast opportunities. The same promise brought my parents here from Egypt when I was still too young to thank them. Now you have inspired my generation with your vision of a country united around the same ideals of liberty and justice, “filled with hope and possibility for all Americans.”

But do you mean it?

As a legislator, you have opposed every effort to protect unborn human life. Shockingly, you even opposed a bill to protect the lives of babies who, having survived an attempted abortion, are born alive. Despite your party’s broad support for legal abortion and its public funding, most Democrats (including Senator Clinton) did not oppose the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act. You, however, opposed it. Your vision of America seems to eliminate “hope and possibility” for a whole class of Americans: the youngest and most vulnerable. You would deny them the most basic protection of justice, the most elementary equality of opportunity: the right to be born.

As a prerequisite for any other right, the right to life is the great civil-rights issue of our time. It is what slavery and segregation were to generations past. Our response to this issue is the measure of our fidelity to a defining American principle: “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life.”

You have asked me to vote for you. In turn, may I ask you three simple questions? They are straightforward questions of fact about abortion. They are at the heart of the debate. In fairness, I believe that you owe the people you would lead a good-faith answer to each:

1. The heart whose beating is stilled in every abortion — is it a human heart?

2. The tiny limbs torn by the abortionist’s scalpel — are they human limbs?

3. The blood that flows from the fetus’s veins — is it human blood?

If the stopped heart is a human heart, if the torn limbs are human limbs, if the spilled blood is human blood, can there be any denying that what is killed in an abortion is a human being? In your vision for America, the license to kill that human being is a right. You have worked to protect that “right” at every turn. But can there be a right to deny some human beings life or the equal protection of the law?

Of course, some do deny that every human being has a right to life. They say that size or degree of development or dependence can make a difference. But the same was once said of color. Some say that abortion is a “necessary evil.” But the same was once said of slavery. Some say that prohibiting abortion would only harm women by driving it underground. But to assume so is truly to play the politics of fear. A compassionate society would never accept these false alternatives. A compassionate society would protect both mother and child, coming to the aid of women in need rather than calling violence against their children the answer to their problems.

Can we become a society that does not sacrifice some people to help others? Or is that hope too audacious? You have said that abortion is necessary to protect women’s equality. But surely we can do better. Surely we can build an America where the equality of some is not purchased with the blood of others. Or would that mean too much change from politics as usual?

Can we provide every member of the human family equal protection under the law? Your record as a legislator gives a resounding answer: No, we can’t. That is the answer the Confederacy gave the Union, the answer segregationists gave young children, the answer a complacent bus driver once gave a defiant Rosa Parks. But a different answer brought your father from Kenya so many years ago; a different answer brought my family from Egypt some years later. Now is your chance, Senator Obama, to make good on the spontaneous slogan of your campaign, to adopt the more American and more humane answer to the question of whether we can secure liberty and justice for all: Yes, we can.

General Wes Clark Endorses Laura Bush for President

If you look at what Hillary Clinton has done during her time as the First Lady of the United States, her travel to 80 countries, her representing the U.S. abroad, plus her years in the Senate, I think she's the most experienced and capable person in the race, not only for representing am abroad, but for dealing with the tough issues of national security.

By that reasoning, Laura Bush, Barbara Bush, or Nancy Reagan should have been elected Commander-In-Chief.

In short, it's full of holes, and I expect McCain's campaign to rip it to shreds very soon.

I often listen to these leftist-liberal spin doctors and politicians and follow what they have to say with a simple question, "Are they nuts?". Well, apparently they are.

The Gallup organization published a survey back in November of 2007 that asked Americans what they thought of their own mental health, and the results were as clear as Red and Blue apparently. According to this Gallup study nearly 2/3 of Republicans (58%) view themselves as having excellent mental health, while only barely over 1/3 (38%) of Democrats would say the same of themselves. Wow...and to think that these people get to cancel out my well thought of, well researched and mentally capable vote in November.

One psychiatrist, D. Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr., actually goes as far as to say that liberalism is a form of mental illness. "Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."

Hey may actually have a point in his research when Dr. Rossiter says, according to World Net Daily, that the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
* creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
* satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
* augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
* rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.

"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

Personally i have always questioned the mental capabilities of anyone who could listen to the rhetoric of Hill the Shrill or Barack Hussein Obama and hear nothing but a neo-Communist Manifesto...now i really will have to do that even more.

Is Barack Obama the new liberal Messiah? He'd better be careful before her Highness Oprah decides to knock him off of her throne!

The reason i ask this is because i was watching a clip from a recent speech he gave in Houston and behind him i saw people raising their hands as he spoke...similar to what one might see in a charismatic or contemporary evangelical church. But when it happens in a church, it is a form of worship. When this happens at an Obama speech, it appears to be much the same.

This is so VERY disturbing! This is not a movement, it is not a campaign...it's an enthronement for the liberal establishment. After so many years of denying the one true God it would appear that leftist American has found a new god to bow down to...Barack Obama.

I think a lot can be said about a candidate by simply looking at the hardcore supporters of that candidate who would use their own money to open an office to help with the election. Down in Houston two such offices have been opened for Barack Obama as he moves closer to the Super Tuesday II primary on March 4 in the Lone Star state. And these campaign volunteers may be finally proud of this country for the first time in their life based on the image found behind the desk:

Next to the picture of Sen. Obama you will not find an American flag, or even the Lone Star flag of the great state of Texas...instead it is a Cuban flag with the image of Che Guevara on it. Yes, the same Che Guevara whose claim to fame was leading the Marxist revolution in Cuba that gave us that lovable dictator Fidel Castro who may or may not have stepped down because he may or may not be dead (you know how much they love truth down there!). Not only do the voters of Barack Obama love his mile wide and inch deep philosophies...they apparently love the failing ideology of the ruthless executioner who personally oversaw at the very least 55 deaths by firing squad. Of course these deaths were deserving because they had the audacity to disagree politically with the movement that Che himself was leading.

The ideology of the American left truly scares me, and when they make heroes out of the like of Che Guevara while promoting an all message-no substance candidate like Barack Obama (whose speeches are so full of socialist rhetoric it might as well be Che giving them)...we should all be afraid.

I'm 36 years old, just days short of my 37th birthday...and i have seen a lot in my country to be proud of. The 1980 US hockey "Miracle on Ice" followed by the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles; the fall of the Berlin Wall and our troops returning home after the first Gulf War; our Senators and Representatives standing united for once on the steps of the Capital singing "God Bless America" after our country was attacked on 9/11...for starters. If given a chance i can think of many other times i have been proud to be an American, especially in the last 18 years of my adult life. Apparently that is not so for Michelle Obama.

The 44 year old wife of Presidential hopeful Barack Hussein Obama apparently has not found much to be proud of in her country in the last 26 or so years...going back to around 1982. In fact, while stumping for her husband in Milwaukee the hopeful First Lady said, "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country..." Really? Wow...she has only been ashamed of her country for the vast majority of her life? And this is the woman who wants to reside in America's house?

Enforcing Liberal Orthodoxy

Open mouth, insert donkey's hoof seems to be the reasoning behind the latest move made by the Democratic National Committee.

A bit of background is needed. The Party of the Donkey doesn't choose a nominee the way the GOP does... not only to the voters get to vote, but, in a move straight out of Mao or Lenin's Communist Party, the Party Members get two votes... one in their state primary, like all good citizens, and another one at the Convention; they're called "superdelegates." I guess the Donkeys don't want to leave the choice of the direction of the party up to, you know, the "little people."

Now comes the insert hoof part. Senator Joe Lieberman, who is a reliable lefty on basically every domestic policy, has been stripped of "superdelegate" status for the awful crime of (gasp) endorsing a Republican! And of course, this comes after the same Party of the Donkey kicked him out because he (gasp) supported the war in Iraq!

Just more evidence that the lefties support free speech only when it agrees with the Party Line.

Just for the record, this is the Liberal Implosion owner, bobby speaking here, not my partner in crime from CCG who is also a contributor to Liberal Implosion.

Tomorrow is the Arkansas Primary, we are one of many states voting on "Super Tuesday" to select our party's nominee for President of the United States. This has been a rough campaign season for me and i've done what i can not to criticize any of the candidates unless it was absolutely necessary, and have seen some great possible Presidents drop out of the race. On issue by issue I probably agreed the most with Rep. Duncan Hunter from CA or former Sen. Fred Thompson from TN, but both of these men have set aside their campaign after seeing the writing on the wall. That now leaves us with Sen. John McCain of AZ, former Gov. Mike Huckabee from AR, former Mitt Romney from MA, and Rep. Ron Paul of TX.

I'll start with Ron Paul...he's a libertarian, and although i can agree with him on many issues, i disagree with him far too much, so he is not an option.

Then there is John McCain, the alleged "maverick" of the Republican party. I have seen his name on too much bad legislation and he has consistently sided with the democrats far too much since 2000 for me to support him in this primary. Although he does have an about an 85% conservative voting record...that 15% worries me.

Mike Huckabee is a great man who i greatly respect. He came in to the Governor's office in AR and had to clean up behind both Bill Clinton and then Jim Guy Tucker who could not carry on the Clinton legacy without getting caught. While i respect him as a leader, and even though i am a baptist pastor myself who is serving in the same association he once moderated...i just don't think i can support him in this primary. I believe Mike Huckabee is the essence of compassionate conservative, but with a little too much emphasis on the compassionate part. I can only imagine him becoming what President George W. Bush has become in terms of spending because of this.

That leaves Mitt Romney, and tomorrow when i walk into the voting booth with a copy of the Constitution of the United States of America and my Bible in hand...i will be voting for Gov. Romney. I realize as a baptist many would expect me to balk at his religious beliefs, which i do disagree with whole heatedly, but i'm also not electing a theologian in chief. I think he has the know how to lead us out of the economic quagmire we are in, and i do believe that he has seen the light when it comes to issues of sanctity of life and traditional family values. And i also have no doubt that when put head to head against either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, he will show that he is the proven leader that this great country needs in the Oval Office.

So my endorsement (Bobby speaking only) is Mitt Romney.

Oh, it think the blood is going to shoot out of my eye balls over this one. This weekend in Atlanta, GA is the first ever "New Baptist Covenant Celebration" conference. It is the brain child of Southern Baptist rejects/former US Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Their goal is to unite the many baptists through out the United States who apparently have lost faith in the continued growth of the Southern Baptist Convention as it remains one of the most conservative denominational groups today. The elder former President said in his opening remarks, "For the first time in more than 160 years, we're convening a major convocation of Baptists throughout an entire continent without any threat to our unity or to our freedom brought by differences of race, politics, geography or the legalistic interpretation of Scriptures," according to Baptist Press.

Now, as bad as this is...various apostate and liberal so called "baptist" groups gathering to bash the SBC; that isn't even the worst thing. The high light of the day (and someone had to be high to decide on this one) was the awarding of former Vice President and Presidential Election Sore-Loser Algore with the "Baptist of the Year Award". Yes, i said "Baptist of the Year"...which apparently was not something that the vast majority of baptists had a say so in since i never got a ballot.

Robert Parhman, the Executive Director of the Baptist Center of Ethics (another SBC reject who left on his own accord) went as far as to refer to Algore as a...and this is where the head gets ready to explode a "baptist prophet" according to Baptist Press. No, really, i didn't stutter and i'm not making it up, Algore was called a "baptist prophet".

In Parham's introduction of the Profit maker, he said, "We have with us today a Baptist prophet who is so unacceptable that the Baptist establishment in his hometown of Nashville neither acknowledged his winning the Nobel Peace Prize nor honored with coverage his notable Nobel lecture...Prophets are unacceptable because their truth is inconvenient." Obviously, this was a slam on the Southern Baptist Convention which is based largely out of the great city of Nashville.

The Profit Algore went on to say in his speech that some Baptist spokesmen deny the reality of global warming because they are locked in a coalition with rich and powerful people who take advantage of the poor for economic profit. Yeah, that's right...i'm in a coalition with rich and powerful people to take advantage of the poor for economic profit. I'm just rolling in the dough here in my 3 bedroom home where i can just build up my carbon footprint!

If i was only the Profit maker like Algore, i could simply fly private jets across country, have someone drive me around in an SUV, and rest comfortably in my 10,000 square foot house when i finally get time to rest. No, instead i'm too busy trying to take advantage of the poor for my own profit according to the bitter ex-VP!

Just for the record Mr. Parham, a prophet is one who declares the truth of God to point people toward God. A prophet of God preaches to save the soul...not to "save the earth". If Algore is your idea of what "Baptist of the Year" is, i'm thankful that you have decided to abandon my Southern Baptist Convention...and i'm glad we were not invited.

Not sure if he was quite over last night's hangover or not, but the Patriarch of the Kennedy Socialist Dynasty threw his hat into the endorsement ring today by joining niece Caroline and son Patrick on the Obama bandwagon. Sen. Ted Kennedy (DUI-Chappaquiddick) apparently believes the future of this great nation lies on the broad, untested (and unqualified) shoulders of Sen. Barak Obama.

The Elder Kennedy said, "Through Barack, I believe we will move beyond the politics of fear and personal destruction and unite our country with the politics of common purpose." Politics of fear and personal destruction, huh?

First of all, Ted Kennedy created the politics of fear and personal destruction when he personally chose to attack Judge Robert Bork when he was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to serve on the Supreme Court. Kennedy put down his drink long enough to get on national TV and say, "Robert Bork's America is a land in which women would be forced into back-alley abortions, blacks would sit at segregated lunch counters, rogue police could break down citizens' doors in midnight raids, schoolchildren could not be taught about evolution, writers and artists could be censored at the whim of government." Once again, the hypocrisy of these people amaze me.

And it was with the help of Ted Kennedy during the 1990's until present that the Clintonistas perfected the politics of personal destruction and fear. How many times would we see Kennedy's fat face in the background of a Clinton or DNC press conference with Bill or Hillary at the mic telling lie after lie after lie. Maybe he was just too drunk to remember.

Ultimately the Kennedy's are doing the same thing the Clinton's do in a time like this, destroy the ones who have the power that you so crave. Do what is necessary to knock them off their perch, and then kick them while they are down.

I'm going to enjoy watching these two "die-nasties" tear each other apart. I expect Hillary to man up here and do something about this...Hill the Shrill will not go down quietly.
And a word of warning to Barak Obama...this endorsement isn't free. If by some slim chance you do become President, remember that Teddy is in charge.

Hillary: The Rules Don't Matter, I am a Clinton!

Once again, Hillary is making the claim that rules don't apply to her:

In a bit of political theater, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and the Florida Democratic Party clamored to restore convention delegates that had been stripped by the national party.

At stake: 185 delegates in a state where Clinton leads almost 2-to-1.

The presidential candidate said Friday — just four days before Florida's primary — that she wants the convention delegates from Florida and Michigan reinstated. The national party eliminated all the delegates from those states — more than 350 in all — because they broke party rules against holding their primaries before Feb. 5. All the major Democratic candidates also made pledges not to campaign in those states before their primaries.

Uh, excuse me, Hillary, if you're campaigning for the nomination of a given party, don't the party's rules kind of apply to you?

What's interesting here, tho, is that a couple of left-leaning commentators are taking issue with Hillary's stand, here and here.

Congratulations, guys, you're finally figuring out what the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy has known about the Clintons for over a decade.

A Convenient Lack of Truth

When the top 3 democrats in the race for the White House debated this past week in the South Carolina (their most recent nationally broadcast pandering opportunity), Hill the Shrill confronted the rookie Barak Hussein Obama with the following: "I was fighting against those ideas when you were practicing law and representing your contributor, Rezko, in his slum landlord business in inner city Chicago."

This in your face attack by Hillary not only showed Obama who the man was in this race (Obviously, John Edwards finishes a distant 3rd there also)...but also left the young Senator from Illinois speechless for a moment. You can almost hear Oprah waving her finger in the air with her hand on her hip, "Oh no you didn't!". Oh yeah, she did Oprah, she did.

Well, as fate and the general hypocrisy of the democrat party, especially the Clintons, would tell...Barak Obama was not the only one who had some contacts with the now infamous Tony Rezko. In fact, this picture has now surfaced:

And as would be expected from Hillary, she responded like my 6 year old caught with his hand in the cookie jar by saying "What...not me?" On the NBC Democrat Campaign Committee propaganda machine known as the "Today Show", The Hill said "I probably have taken hundreds of thousands of pictures. I don't know the man. I wouldn't know him if he walked in the door."

Uh...yeah. OK.

This is the same Hillary Clinton who once said "I don't recall" or something similiar 50 times in a 42 paragraph statement presented to a House committee concerning the Whitewater investigation and didn't know how those hundreds of sensitive FBI files got into a secluded area of the White House that she was pretty much the only person using at the time.

Don't forget, this picture was taken at a FUND RAISER for the Clinton Campaign Machine, and those who were in attendance and got that close to the then President had to have some sort of clearance.

Amazingly, people still believe this woman; which really makes me worry for the future of this great nation.

*can’t afford basic life needs

Has problems with relationship or wants to avoid single parenthood: 8%

So, this suggests that less than 8% of abortions are for health issues or rape/incest and less than 1% are "forced" abortions...meaning that 91% of abortions are for nothing more than late term birth control.
That just doesn't seem right to me, nor does it seem right to God.

Barak...don't be a wop!

Apparently Barak Hussein Obama, who until recently was within reach of becoming the nominee for the democrat party for the Oval Office is turning out to be nothing more than a "wop". Facing off against the Clinton Campaign Machine and the big guns they bring in, he seems to be fighting back with nothing more than a Swiss Army Knife.

Since 1992, if not before, Republicans and most common sense Americans have known one thing...the Clintons will lie, cheat and steal to get and keep power; and do more than that if necessary. For whatever reason Barak Obama seems to be shocked that the Billary would dare "twist his remarks" for political gain (most people call it lying Obama). Recently on Good Morning America the Presidential hopeful said in an interview, "The only thing I want to make sure of is that when he goes after me, that he goes after me on the basis of facts and policy differences, and, you know, stuff isn't just made up,"...does he not know who he is dealing with here?????

How do you tell when Bill Clinton is lying? His lips are moving! When Barak won in Iowa and began leading Hillary in the polls, he basically placed the target on his back for the Clinton Hitmen to fire at will. And when it comes to political gain, truth is nothing more than collateral damage in the sick and twisted Clinton mind.

And to add insult to injury Bill Clinton said this recently according to the AP: "I never heard a word of public complaint when Mr. Obama said Hillary was not truthful...no character, was poll-driven. He had more pollsters than she did." Make sure you picture this in your mind; Bill Clinton waving that bony finger of his at Barak Obama and saying "You can't do that...even though we do it...you just can't do it yourself!"

The lies are just starting Sen. Obama...and should you find any more personal success between now and the nomination being won, expect it to get worst. In fact, you may even be looking at the end of your political career should the pioneers of the politics of personal destruction see fit.

My advice to you is get some guns and fight back. Being politically correct and saying "she's twisting the truth" while fielding softball questions on your favorite talk shows won't cut it. Be a man...after all, Hillary is!

Roe and The Painful Legacy

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling on the Roe v. Wade case, which has amounted to being nothing more than bad law based on lies (by Norma McCorvey's own admission) that helped usher in a culture of death. As a result of this poorly made decision by our nation's highest court nearly 49 million children have been denied the most principle right promised to us as Americans...the "right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

"Jane Roe" of the infamous Roe v. Wade case was actually Norma McCorvey, and she has fought for the most of the last 13 years since becoming a born again believer to see this horrible law overturned. In her book Won By Love and on her website www.crossingoverministry.org she states:
"Norma," I said to myself, "They're right." I had worked with pregnant women for years. I had been through three pregnancies and deliveries myself. I should have known. Yet something in that poster made me lose my breath. I kept seeing the picture of that tiny, 10-week-old embryo, and I said to myself, that's a baby! It's as if blinders just fell off my eyes and I suddenly understood the truth--that's a baby!

I felt "crushed" under the truth of this realization. I had to face up to the awful reality. Abortion wasn't about 'products of conception.' It wasn't about 'missed periods.' It was about children being killed in their mother's wombs. All those years I was wrong. Signing that affidavit, I was wrong. Working in an abortion clinic, I was wrong. No more of this first trimester, second trimester, third trimester stuff. Abortion--at any point--was wrong. It was so clear. Painfully clear."

Abortion is murder, plain and simple. It ends a life, a life that in God's eyes is precious. Psalm 139:13-16 tells us, "For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When i was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them."
There are no "accidents" in God's eyes, and even a child that came about "unintentionally" based on our own sinful, human standards is never unintentional in God's sight. He has a purpose for each and every child...and for 49 billion children, that potential went untapped in most cases because of some one's selfishness.

God has blessed America, and i believe that He continues to bless us and protect us today, but until we end this culture of death that began with a bad law built upon lies...i'm afraid that hand of blessing and protection may one day be lifted from us.

As an aside, one of the great ironies of this ruling is that Norma McCorvey never had that abortion that the Supreme Court's decision was based on. She had a baby girl who she put up for adoption.

Across the United States today schools are dismissed, government offices are closed and rallies are being held in "honor" of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. The great civil rights icon who was murdered on a Memphis hotel balcony 40 years ago this April is being recognized by many, while others use the celebration of his birth as a cheap excuse for a 3 day weekend.

When discussing King, one cannot but help to refer to his "I have a Dream" speech given in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC in 1963. It was in this speech that Rev. King presented his vision for America, one built on the equality of all men based on who they were and not what they look like. And it was in this speech that he also stated "We cannot turn back"; and i think those who have stolen the banner of Rev. King's legacy have done just that...turned back.

Over the recent years there have been a large number of black Americans who have risen to positions of prominence based on their merit and their skills...while those like Je$$e Jack$son and Al $harpton have attacked them for their alleged dissension from the liberal ranks that help support their lifestyle which amounts to nothing more than their own for of welfare (living off the success of others). This type of rhetoric sadly is then passed down to those who wrongly view these men as being for them when they are actually very much against them.

Names like Clarence Thomas, Condoleeza Rice, Colin Powell, Michael Steele, Alan Keyes and Star Parker are just a handful of great Americans who are labeled as "Uncle Toms" or "sell-outs" because they refuse to cower to the hate mongers who feel the need to control the thoughts of their minions to say in power over them. And although they are called "puppets" of the "evils" of conservative ideology, in truth they are the ones living out the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Until we move beyond the rhetoric and the lies of the race bating machine that is deep seeded in the democrat party, i believe that the dream will amount to being nothing more than a dream...something that never actually happens. Personally, i believe in the dream that Rev. King spoke of, and it is a dream that i am working at seeing become a reality in my own life, my family and my church. And i pray that God will bring this dream into a reality in our great country, despite the work of those who have hijacked the dream for personal gain.

This past Sunday morning Hill the Shrill was making her rounds on the political talk circuit and trying to pander to her shrinking constituency. I believe it might have been on Meet the Press where she said the following:

"This is the most exciting election we've had in such a long time because you have an African-American, an extraordinary man, a person of tremendous talents and abilities, running to become our president. You have a woman running to break the highest and hardest glass ceiling. I don' think either of us want to inject race or gender in this campaign. We are running as individuals..."

OK...so as she brags about the woman and the black guy, isn't she injecting race and gender???? Or is not so since she is the said woman (I still have doubts about that fact by the way).

Personally i think it's great that the race and gender cards are being thrown around in a democrat preliminary race since the democrat party really is full of racists and racial bigots to begin with; they just try to label the Republicans that way in hopes to cover their own spots.

Mohler on the Iowa Caucus and Democracy in the US

The dance of democracy is rarely graceful and almost never predictable. But, in the end, the people have their say. The 2008 U.S. presidential contest started earlier than any other in the nation's history, but the first real votes were taken last night in the form of the Iowa caucuses.

The results are a reminder of the unpredictability of the democratic process. The biggest news was on the Democratic side. The victory of Sen. Barack Obama is a big moment for his party and for the nation. The fact that an African-American candidate won with such a significant margin of victory is historic. Sen. Obama just may have emerged as the symbol of a new political mood and national aspiration. The eloquence of his victory address surpassed that of any presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan, and much of it appeared to be extemporaneous.

The fact that Sen. Obama outpolled Sen. Hillary Clinton even among women voters is another indication of the magnitude of his victory. The fact that Sen. Clinton came in third effectively buried her campaign strategy of inevitability. The Democratic race is now effectively a two-person race with the party's eventual nominee almost surely either Sen. Obama or Sen. Clinton.

On the Republican side, the result was less surprising but no less significant. The convincing victory won by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee instantly reshapes the Republican race. The Governor's victory speech was a very powerful demonstration of effective political communication. Gov. Huckabee has an undeniable ability to connect with voters, and his appeal was far wider than many had expected.

Nevertheless, the picture among the Republicans is still rather confusing. The race in New Hampshire -- just five days away -- is very different, with former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and Sen. John McCain seemingly running ahead of the pack. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was not a significant factor in the Iowa voting, but the fact that Gov. Huckabee came out ahead of Gov. Romney may give Giuliani the opening he needs. Then again, a Huckabee-Romney, Huckabee-McCain, or Romney-McCain showdown is also quite possible. A great deal depends on the voting in New Hampshire just five days away.

Americans should pause to think about the imbalances of the nomination process. The Iowa caucuses were basically inconsequential until 1976, when former Georgia Governor Jimmy Carter rode a victory there to national prominence, his party's nomination, and the White House. Yet, the reality is that a relative handful of Iowa citizens now has an inordinate influence on the nomination process.

Over the past few decades, America's evangelical Christians have emerged as a powerful and influential voting constituency within the Republican Party. While this is due to a host of issues, the issue of abortion has been front and center. In recent years, the issue of marriage has emerged as another critical issue. The turnout in Iowa contradicts the predictions that the so-called Religious Right has been sidelined. Gov. Huckabee's victory can be directly traced to the huge numbers of evangelicals who turned out in Iowa.

All of the candidates on the Democratic side are committed to protect and extend abortion rights. Among the Republicans, Mayor Giuliani is well known for his pro-abortion positions -- right down to opposing a ban on partial-birth abortions. The most he has yet promised is to appoint strict-constructionist justices to the Supreme Court. Evangelicals will be watching the Republican race closely.

The rhetoric of the race -- and the rhetoric of many evangelicals -- is disturbing. This race is important and necessarily so. We are talking about the next President of the United States, after all. But evangelicals have invested far too much hope in the political process. No government can make people good, transform humanity, or eliminate sin. The political sphere is important, but never ultimate. Jesus Christ is Lord -- and He will be Lord regardless of who sits in the Oval Office.

This presidential race offers evangelical Christians an opportunity to mature and rethink our model of political engagement. We are likely to confront developments and choices that will require significant intellectual effort among American Christians.

Americans should give thanks today, mindful of the fact that our democratic process is evidence of national stability and constitutional order. The U.S. Constitution is the world's longest-surviving political charter. For a contrast, just think of the political turmoil and tragedy seen in Pakistan and Kenya in just the last week. Our political process may be only rarely graceful or predictable -- but it is still one of the wonders of the world. Stay tuned.

Round one is in the books with the Iowa Caucuses wrapping up in the Heartland.
On the GOP side, with 78% of the precincts reporting, Fox News is reporting Mike Huckabee as the easy winner with 34% of the vote followed by Mitt Romney at 25%, and then Fred Thompson and John McCain weighing in with 13% each.

On the left, things are a little tighter. With 96% of precincts chiming in Fox News is calling Barak Hussein Obama the winner with 38%, followed by a tight race for 2nd between John Edwards at 30% and Hillary at 29%. Bill Richardson apparently is still in the race and managed a whopping 2%, while Chris Dodd has seen the writing on the wall and dropped out.

Next up is New Hampshire on Jan. 8 where i think the dems will see much the same in terms of percentage, but i expect to see Hillary win there and Edwards remain at an annoying close 3rd. On the GOP side i don't think Huckabee will get much of a push out of this and i expect to see a close race between McCain and Romney.

When all is said and done, Hillary will probably still win the nomination...i have no clue on the GOP side though. It will probably come down to Super Tuesday on Feb. 5; and by then i hope to know who i'm voting for myself.

Sun Bowl…Oregon won and I got a grilled pork loin sandwich, another win-win (2-0)
Music City…the Cats tried to give it away, but pulled it out (3-0)
Insight…OSU did try to stop playing in the 2nd half, but pulled it out (4-0)
Chick-fil-A…Tigers win (5-0)
Outback…UT get’s the V (6-0)
Cotton…Sorry Hawgs, Mizzou wins big (7-0)
Gator…TT comes from behind, I didn’t really care (8-0)

Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA
Thanks to a hissy-fit between Dish Network and our local ABC affiliate, I won’t be able to watch this one (or the Capital One!!!); but seeing how it is USC (10-2) against the surprising Illinois Illini (9-3)…I may not miss much. I personally hate USC as much as the next guy, maybe even more; but I’m not sure how much of a chance Zook’s boys have. Sure they beat Ohio State in Columbus, but I’m not convinced the Acorns are all that good anyway.
MY PICK: Holding my nose and picking the Trojans

Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, LA
The Hawaii Warriors crash the BCS party with an undefeated 12-0 season and no victories against any decent teams to face the University of GA Bulldogs (10-2) out of the SEC. Some think (especially in Athens) that the Dogs should be playing next week in New Orleans, even though they lost to the team that LSU destroyed in the SEC championship game. Hawaii on the other hand…well, is Hawaii and plays glorified high school football. When it is all said and done, I don’t think Hawaii will know what to do against a real defense and will learn that “Aloha” also means goodbye when it comes to their hopes of winning.
MY PICK: UGA

Fiesta Bowl in Tempe, AZ
The OU Sooners (11-2) bring their Big 12 title back down to the desert in hopes of avenging last year’s loss to Boise State by beating West Virginia (10-2) who not only lost their national championship hopes against Pitt, but also lost their head coach in Michigan a week later. I’m not sure the Mountaineers will be able to handle the drama with Rich Rodriquez leaving and now being sued along with handling a pretty good Sooner team which may be bitter about missing out on the BCS championship.
MY PICK: A close one, but I think the Sooners pull it out.

Orange Bowl in Miami, FL
Virginia Tech (11-2) matches up against the Kansas (11-1) Jayhawks, who apparently forgot they were a basketball school during most of the season. Kansas probably benefited from a weak conference, while the Hokies played pretty well in most games, but were handed their butts by LSU in Baton Rouge at the beginning of the season. It could be an intriguing match up.
MY PICK: Virginia Tech

BCS Championship Game in New Orleans, LA
LSU is the first 2 loss team to play in the BCS championship game as they travel across I-10 with an 11-2 record to face the Buckeyes of Ohio State (11-1) out of the Big 10. LSU should have a fully rested and fully recovered defense to take on a Buckeye team making a 2nd straight BCS title game appearance. LSU last won the BCS title in 2004, Ohio State lost last year to Florida in the title game and are 0-8 against the SEC in bowl games.
MY PICK: Tiger born, Tiger bred, and when I die I’ll be Tiger dead…Geaux Tigers! LSU will not let the crystal football leave the state of Louisiana!

That’ll take care of my bowl picks for this year…oh, wait, there are two more.
The International Bowl in Toronto on Jan. 5 with Rutgers playing Ball State and then the GMAC in Mobile, AL on Jan. 6 with Tulsa playing Bowling Green. Well, considering a college football bowl game shouldn’t be played in Canada and neither Tulsa nor Bowling Green should be playing in January…they don’t count and are automatic wins for me!

For the life of me, I have yet to figure out who in their right mind wants to travel to Boise in December and then play football on Blue Turf!

Sun Bowl in El Paso, TX
Two former 2's match up with South Florida (9-3) out of the Big East taking on the Oregon Ducks (8-4) out of the Pac 10. Not exactly what I would call an intriguing match up…but I guess that both of them being as high as 2 in the polls makes it some what interesting; but not for me.
MY PICK: I've got a bonfire to build.

Music City Bowl in Nashville, TN
The Wildcats are the surprise team again under Rich Brooks coming out of the SEC with a 7-5 record and will face the once might Seminole Nation with a matching 7-5 record. Bobby Bowden had to leave 36 players behind for this one, and I think that will make the difference.

MY PICK: UK

Insight Bowl at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, AZ
Indiana (7-5) makes their first bowl appearance in 14 years and face off against the Cowboys of OSU (6-6) out of the Big 12. IU didn't do too bad in a pretty sad Big 10 this year and OSU forgot that there is a 2nd half in most of their games.

MY PICK: My secretary is an OSU alum…I'll make them my default pick.

Chick-fil-A Bowl, Georgia Dome in Atlanta, GA
I still haven't forgiven this most recent corporate buy out in the formally named Peach Bowl. This year 15 Clemson (9-3) takes on 22 Auburn (8-4) in the annual ACC/SEC match-up. I'm not sure if you realize this or not, but really they are the same school…except for the fact that Clemson has a lake.

MY PICK: I'll take the Tigers!

Outback Bowl, Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL
The Vols bring a 9-4 record and a sore backside (as a result of the whooping from LSU in the SEC title game) into Tampa to face the Badgers from the United Socialist Republic of Madison (9-3). This will be one of 3 Big 10-SEC match ups that may be worth watching. Although Wisconsin has won the last 2 bowl games against SEC teams, I think this year will be different.

MY PICK: Vols

Cotton Bowl, Dallas, TX
This year's Cotton Bowl Classic matches up the Arkansas Razorbacks (8-4) and their new coach Bobby Petrino (AKA, Nick Saban II) against the upstart Mizzou Tigers (11-2) making their first New Year's Day bowl appearance since before I was born (1970). McFaddan and Felix make up an exciting backfield for the Hawgs, but the Tigers bring in Heisman finalist Chase Daniel (I like that last name!).

MY PICK: Since we might be related, Chase Daniel and Missouri.

Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL
I've always liked this bowl game, and I'm not sure why…but this year we have Virginia (9-3) taking on Texas Tech (8-4); so that may change. I just saw that Gary Danielson is one of the announcers for this game, so that will be another reason not to watch it.

MY PICK: Watching the Capital One Bowl

Capital One Bowl, Citrus Bowl in Orlando
The Artist Formally Known as the Citrus Bowl hosts last year's BCS champion Florida (9-3) and Heisman winner Tim Tebow taking on Michigan (8-4) being lead onto the field for the final time by Lloyd Carr. Although I like Michigan way more than I like Florida…I think Tebow is too good.

MY PICK: Wolverines are Gator Bait.

Alrighty then, the first 8 bowl games of the extra season of American college football are over and in the books. We’ll begin with a quick review of my picks:

1. Poinsettia Bowl, My Pick: Navy…Utah won 35-32
2. New Orleans Bowl, My Pick: Shopping…and we got the last bit of it done. And for the record FAU beat Memphis 44-27.
3. Papa Johns.com Bowl, My Pick: Cincinnati…UC beat the Golden Eagles 31-21.
4. New Mexico Bowl, My Pick: My in-laws arrive…they did and we had Big Jakes BBQ! And for the record New Mexico ended a streak of bowl losses going back to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, winning 23-0 and I didn’t have to watch.
5. Las Vegas Bowl, My Pick: BYU…and it was way to close and not much scoring, Cougars win 17-16.
6. Hawaii Bowl, My Pick: Boise State…and their Cinderella run is over, the Pirates pulled the upset 41-38.
7. Motor City Bowl, My Pick: Christmas day leftovers…the ham was delicious! And for those of you keeping score at home, Purdue wins a shoot out 51-48.
8. Holiday Bowl, My Pick: Texas…the Horns did hook the Sun Devils 52-34.

That makes me 6 right, 2 wrong…Now on to my next round of prognosticating expertise:

Champs Sports Bowl, December 28 at Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL
BC (10-3) lost the ACC title game and finds themselves heading south to the land of Mickey with a streak of 7 consecutive bowl wins to face the Michigan State (7-5) out of the Big 10. The Spartans will be missing at least 5 players as a result of “incidents” that took place off field and BC has a QB named Matt Ryan who spent much of the season in the Heisman race.
MY PICK: BC should easily handle the Spartans in the Sunshine state, by 14.

Texas Bowl, at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX
Not exactly the battle for Texas supremacy when former SWC foes Houston (8-4) out of the Conference USA faces off against TCU (7-5) out of The Mountain West Conference. Yeah…2 mid-majors, I can’t help but jump up and down (yawn). Houston is winless in bowl games, but is basically playing at home (yes Houston…you do have a college football team!) but the Horned Frogs are picked by 4.5.
MY PICK: I’ll take the line, TCU.

Emerald Bowl, at AT&T Park in San Francisco, CA
The Granola City (full of fruits, flakes and nuts) gets a bowl game named after a nut company…go figure! Maryland comes out of the ACC with a 6-6 record and flies cross country to face off against the Beavers of Oregon State (8-4) out of the Pac 12. And even though these are major conferences, this is another example of too many bowl games since the Terps finished 8th in their conference.
MY PICK: Too much jet lag, I’ll pick the Beavs and probably won’t watch this one.

Meineke Car Care Bowl, December 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC
Ah, the beauty of corporate buy outs as we have yet another bowl game named after a company playing in a stadium named after a company! Two up and comers face off with UConn playing more than basketball bringing a 9-3 record out of the Big East to face off against last year’s BCS crasher Wake Forest (8-4) out of the ACC making it’s second EVER consecutive bowl appearance. While I am a committed Baptist myself, Wake does tend to be left of Fidel Castro in terms of theology and politics…while the state of Connecticut has given us Joe Lieberman.
MY PICK: I like Joe…UConn by a TD.

Liberty Bowl at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN
The Dawgs of Mississippi State (7-5) return to bowl action under the leadership of SEC Coach of the Year Sylvester Croom and face off against the University of Central Florida with a 10-3 record. Remember the good old days when Florida, Florida State and Miami were the football schools? I like State, and other than LSU, they are the only team I consistently cheer for in the SEC…but UCF has a great junior running back named Kevin Smith who needs only 181 yards to break the NCAA single season rushing record; and he may be the game breaker.
MY PICK: As much as I like State, I think Smith will make the difference, UCF by 7.

Alamo Bowl at the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, TX“Joe Pa’s” 500th game at the helm of the Penn State Nittany Lions (8-4) heads south to play the Aggies from Texas A&M (7-5), fresh off a win over arch rivals Texas to end the season. While the Aggies tend to fall apart in bowl games, Penn State has been inconsistent at best in big games over the last few years.
MY PICK: I’ll go with home field and the ability to win a big game by picking A&M by 10.

Independence Bowl at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, LA
I’m still not sure if Alabama will make it to the game since they can’t get through Monroe (or the University of Louisiana at Monroe, who beat the Tide in Tuscaloosa!). Nick Satan…oops, I mean Saban and his Gumps come into Shreveport for a 2nd year in a row with a not so stellar 6-6 record to face Big 12 foe Colorado with a matching 6-6 record. Uh…yeah, this is a winner. Reminds me of the good old days when the I-Bowl could only get mid-majors.
MY PICK: Two words…BEAT SABAN! The Buffs beat Oklahoma; they should be able to beat the Gumps too.

Armed Forces Bowl, December 31 at Amon G Carter Stadium in Ft Worth, TX
The artist formally known as the Ft. Worth bowl gets renamed to the Armed Forces Bowl and gets one of the service Academies, Air Force (6-3) to face off against Cal (6-6) out of the Pac 10. The boys from Berkley started off strong this year with a big win over Tennessee and had the opportunity to #1 in the nation after LSU lost to Kentucky…but their wheels fell off, BIG TIME! They wound up with a pathetic 6-6 record and face off against the high powered offense of the US Air Force Academy Falcons.
MY PICK: I’m a proud American…unlike Berkley, which I’m not so sure is American; Air Force by 10.

2007 Bowl-a-rama

It’s that time of the year again where the artist formally known as Division I-A, now known as the NCAA FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) enters into a fun filled 3 weeks of college bowl games. On tap this year is another 32 games for the hard core college football fan, or a lot of naps for those of us who feel there are way too many bowl games for our own good. And for those of you keeping score at home this means this means 64 of the 119 FBS schools will be in a post season game…somebody shoot me, please!

For your convenience and bowl game viewing enjoyment, I will now go through with my own expert prognostications and let you know my own opinion on each game and each team. And as always you can expect this to be very politically incorrect, very sarcastic and very opinionated. If I hurt your feelings by picking on your favorite team (or home state), just try some of that “enhanced” eggnog and read it again later…I promise, it’ll be funny then!

Now with that said…

Poinsettia Bowl, December 20 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA.
Oh, how I miss the good old days when a bowl game was something to strive for and put the best of the best going head to head…unfortunately here we have Utah vs. Navy. The 8-4 fighting Utes of Utah from the defenseless Mountain West Conference play host to the Navy Midshipmen, also with a record of 8-4 on the season. Navy won this game 2 years ago but Utah is picked as the favorite in this year’s match up. As for me, I’m going to be throwing my support behind Navy because I’M A PROUD AMERICAN! And to not pull for Navy is…well, UNAMERICAN! Besides, Navy was one of the many who put a whooping on Notre Dame this year, and that always makes me smile! And will someone tell me why the Mountain West Conference has 5 teams in bowl games!?!?!
MY PICK: Navy

New Orleans Bowl, December 21 at the Superdome in New Orleans, LA
Florida Atlantic and Memphis face off in the Big Easy with matching 7-5 records…and I have no idea what the purpose of this game is. I love New Orleans, but isn’t the Sugar Bowl and the BCS title game enough? Does anyone even know what the mascot for FAU is!?!?! NO, of course not! The only thing this game has going for it is the legend of Howard Schnellenberger. I guess this may be turn out to be the third best bowl game in New Orleans this year (There are only 3 bowls in New Orleans for any Berkley students that may not get that)…but possibly the worst of the season.
MY PICK: It’s the Friday before Christmas…go shopping!

Papa John’s Bowl, December 22 at Legion Field in Birmingham, AL
This is like the 4th bowl game in the history of Legion Field and it must really tick off Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, KY that they didn’t get this one! The always dangerous Southern Miss Golden Eagles with new head coach Larry Fedora head up I-59 to take on former C-USA foe Cincinnati. The Gold Birds are 7-5 and the Bearcats come out of the Big East with a 9-3 record. While I think this game will be watchable for me due to living in Hattiesburg while in college at William Carey University, and also having a wife from Cincinnati…I can’t guarantee anyone else will enjoy it. In the end, I think the Cats may be too much for the Eagles.
MY PICK: Cincinnati by 10

New Mexico Bowl, University Stadium in Albuquerque, NM
Nevada brings a 6-6 record to what amounts to a home game for the 8-4 New Mexico Lobos. Is this a joke?
MY PICK: I’m praying my in-laws have arrived so I have an excuse not to watch this!!!

Las Vegas Bowl, at Sam Boyd Stadium in…wait for it: Las Vegas
A rematch from September 8 when the formally 13th ranked UCLA Bruins beat then unranked BYU Cougars 27-17 in LA. I’m curious though, what are they smoking in Las Vegas to invite a bunch of Mormons to the gambling capital of the world???? Do they really expect to make money on this? The Bruins are 6-6 and the followers of Joe Smith are 10-2, ranked 19th and are a 5.5 point favorite.
MY PICK: Since I hate LA and I like Mitt Romney, the Mormons by 2 TD’s.

Hawaii Bowl, December 23 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, HI
The game traditionally played on Christmas day and traditionally hosted by the University of Hawaii has lost its place on the calendar and its home team. This year Boise State (10-2) heads south and represents the WAC thanks to their loss to Hawaii and will play host to East Carolina (7-5), one of 6 teams from C-USA in bowl games (yes, I said 6 from the mid-major of mid-majors). The boys in blue from the blue turf have a high powered offense as always and East Carolina…well, isn’t actually a state; I mean I know where North and South Carolina is, but I have yet to find East Carolina on a map. Oh, they’re Pirates…they’re from the ocean!
MY PICK: Boise State easily

Motor City Bowl, December 26 at Ford Field in Detroit, MI
Central Michigan (8-5) gets what amounts to a home game against their neighbors from the south, Purdue (7-5) out of the Big 10. This is a tough one because CMU is a mid-major (one of 3 in bowl games from the Mid-American conference…I think I need some Tylenol just thinking about that) and has already lost to Purdue this season. Also keep in mind that Purdue has a weak 3-5 conference record in one of the weakest Big 10 conferences in a long time.
MY PICK: It’s the day after Christmas and bowl games should be played in the south…I choose the leftovers from Christmas dinner.

Holiday Bowl, December 27 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA
Arizona State and their nomad coach Dennis Erickson (this is his 6th NCAA head coaching gig, also had 2 NFL head coaching gigs) go west into San Diego with a 10-2 record to face the 9-3 Texas Longhorns who began the season expecting to play on New Years day. At least there is no mid-major in this game…but then again, I’m not sure the Big 12 isn’t a mid-major most years. Both teams are ranked though and each had BCS aspirations, so this may be worthwhile match up.
MY PICK: Hook ‘em Horns, Texas by 3.

I guess you can't really expect much from a store in the state that elects people like Hillary Clinton and Charlie Rangel to represent them. Apparently a high end grocer in Manhattan advertised hams as "Delicious for Chanukah".
For those of you in Fayetteville, AR who wondering "What's wrong with that?!?!?!"...i would hate for you to dig out a Bible and look it up; that could cause so much undue stress. Pork is not "kosher" for the Jews who celebrate Hannukah during this time of year (yes, there is a reason for those 8 pronged candle holders). In other words, they don't eat pork...and ham is pork!

But then again, i guess if they can get they ham blessed by a rabbi at one of those liberal synogogues it may be ok...

How America Treats Its Military

One of the really formative experiences in my life was serving as an officer in the Marine Corps. I thought military service was an honorable profession, so much so that I urged my sons to consider military service-even though that was during the Vietnam War.

But after what I have been watching the past few months, I wonder if I would urge my grandsons to serve today.

One of the most disillusioning moments for me was when the New York Times ran that ad-at a discount, by the way-for MoveOn.org calling General Petraeus "General Betray Us." This honorable West Point graduate with a distinguished military career: We do this to him? Unbelievably, a resolution in the Senate to disavow the MoveOn.org ad war was opposed by all the leading Democratic presidential candidates.

Equally bad is what the Senate did to General Peter Pace. The majority leader-who, by the way, ran an elevator in the Capitol during the Vietnam War-accused this most decorated marine officer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, of being incompetent. Senate leaders attacked Pace because he had the audacity to express his view that both adultery and homosexual behavior are morally wrong.

The mainstream press has also done its share of harm to our service members. As General Ricardo Sanchez said, as described in a Wall Street Journal op-ed piece last Thursday, "What is clear to me is that you [referring to the media] are perpetrating the corrosive partisan politics that is destroying our country and killing our service members who are at war." He lashed out at Congress for rank partisanship, undermining the confidence of the troops.

The general also faulted the Bush administration for its handling of the war-which, by the way, was the only thing the New York Times reported from his speech.

This is what we have come to in America: slandering our generals and undermining-even endangering-our troops.

Our cultural and political leaders have forgotten, if they ever knew, that the willingness to sacrifice on behalf of others is why serving in the military is considered such a high calling-and a part of what makes just wars just. Thomas Aquinas in his classic Summa Theologica puts his discussion of just war in the chapter on charity-the love of God and neighbor.

And reformer John Calvin called the soldier an "agent of God's love" because "restraining evil out of love for neighbor is an imitation of God's restraining evil out of love for His creatures."

We are blessed that so many fine men and women are willing to wield the sword on our behalf in this country. But are we, in turn, willing to respect and honor those sacrificing for us? And if not, can we blame them if one day they decide to lay down their arms?

What kind of a world would this be if that happened? We would have a world where evil reigned unchecked by justice, and where the strong would be free to prey on the weak.

The problem is not with our service members who are serving us nobly and ably in Iraq; it is the political and cultural leaders who are dishonoring them. If most Americans share their attitude, then I say bring the troops home. Why should they risk their lives for an ungrateful nation?

If we want them to continue to lay down their lives to protect us, then I say it is time for the politicians and the media to get a hold of themselves and give our troops the respect, honor, and support that they deserve.

Post Debate Opining

OK, i caught a pretty good amount of the debate, missed the early part of it as a result of being at church tonight...so i thought i would just pass on a few thoughts.

* I'm not all that convinced that Rudy is the top contender, other than the fact that he has the name recognition among all of the candidates. He really has not impressed me or most people in these debates...yet he still leads the polls. Makes me wonder who is being polled.

* Why is Ron Paul still in there? He is a libertarian and needs to stick with that camp, and he can only manage 3-4% in most polls...yet he wins all of the un-scientific polls which allows anyone to vote as often as they want. Come to think of it, maybe he would make a better democrat on that end.

* McCain hit a homer with the KGB-Putin remark. He understands the seriousness of that situation and has earned a few extra marks.

* Fred Thompson needs to really make himself stand out more in terms of what he can do and wants to do. He has managed to stay consistent in both debates, but being consistent at not doing anything isn't a good thing.

* Mike Huckabee is benefiting the most from these debates and i think has moved into a top tier candidate as a result of them.

* Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter are probably the two most consistently Ronald Reagan type Republicans, and sadly have no chance of winning. I hear them and i think "Yes, yes, YES!"...but they aren't able to garner the support that the more well known candidates have; and that really is a shame. Perhaps they need to consider dropping out and throwing their support and their philosophies behind another candidate.

* I like Mitt Romney, i really do...but his past may come back to bite him. Taking Hillary to task and pointing out her socialist views does help his stock a bit. He didn't hurt himself any in this debate, he really needs top stand out in the Iowa debate though.

I still can't say i have a favorite picked in this horse race, but i do know that my support is not behind Ron Paul or Rudy at this point, and i can't say it will happen either; although i do realize only one of them has a chance of winning the nomination.
No matter what though, our worst candidate is probably still a way better choice than anyone the dems can put up in November.

General David Petraeus, head of the US military actions in Iraq is set to give his most recent report in the hallowed halls of the US Congress today; and those on the left who feel that they need US defeat in order for them to win are already attacking. Apparently these so called "leaders" who have no shame nor honor are attacking a highly decorated military man who is also a graduate of the US Army Academy, and probably is the very definition of honor.

Rahm Emanual (D-IL), head of the Democratic Caucus said this on the House floor concerning the Petraeus progress report, "We don't need a report that wins the Nobel Prize for creative statistics or the Pulitzer for fiction." Is this mouth piece for the Democrats daring to call this patriot and war hero a "liar"?!?! And to make it worst, he is doing this in the US tax payer owned House of Representatives!

This is reprehensible and dishonorable at the very least and unpatriotic and treasonous to the core! Keep in mind though, he speaks for this "majority" in the US House and Senate. He is also not the only the member of the liberal left spewing this filth, the democrat liberal loving website and attack machine move.org recently ran an ad in the New York Slimes that read, "And This Is What It's Going To Be: 'General Petraeus Or General Betray Us? Cooking The Books For The White House.'"

What? You mean the tape released to the public today that is allegedly showing Usama Bin Laden making more threats to the US wasn't put out by the DNC? Amazing, because it sounded like the talking points of any liberal democrat talking head spewing their mind numbing rhetoric, the mindless psychobabble the dems running for president might say during their pandering for votes, or any of the propaganda coming from groups like moveon.org. * Let make this disclaimer: i'm not sure if this person is UBL or not, in fact, our intelligence agencies are still trying to figure that out. In fact, i wouldn't be surprise if it is an impostor; only time will tell.

At one point this supposed UBL figure refers to the "neo-cons" like Cheney or Rumsfeld and their pushing of the war on the American people. He went on to refer to a "holocaust" that is the result of our culture, no doubt being forced upon the world by these same "neo-cons". Don't the US liberals find some sick joy in referring to our Commander in Chief as a "nazi"? Apparently UBL is listening to their talking points!

He also made reference to the new democrat majority in the US Congress...which apparently he is endorsing, as well as the vast majority of terrorists in the 2006 mid-term elections. What cracks me up about this is that this UBL character points out that they were supposedly elected by the American people to stop the war...but they haven't! Shame on you Dirty Harry and San Fran Nan, you very well may have lost his campaign donation for next year!

But i think my favorite part is early on in this 30 minute democrat underground diatribe is when he really hits the leftist talking points by blaming the Bush administration policies for global warming and then attacks big business in America while tearing down the US military and Iraqi PM Nouri al-Maliki. In fact, just today, in preparation for a better than expected report from US General David Petraeus, Sen. Chucky Schumer (D-NY) suggested today that the US military...the greatest fighting force in the word, had NOTHING to do with the recent success in the Anbar Province of Iraq. His actual quote was:
And let me be clear, the violence in Anbar has gone down despite the surge, not because of the surge. The inability of American soldiers to protect these tribes from al Qaeda said to these tribes we have to fight al Qaeda ourselves. It wasn't that the surge brought peace here. It was that the warlords took peace here, created a temporary peace here. And that is because there was no one else there protecting.

So apparently the old adage is true...the enemy of my enemy is my friend; and since both the liberal left of the democrat party and militant Islamofascists hate President Bush, they are a match made in heaven!

The big news today was the major endorsement that THE Hillary received early in this election cycle...what? The United Transportation Union? No, not that one! I meant the endorsement of a Hillary-Obama ticket by the one man in our hemisphere who shares many a political stance as these to democrat heavy weights: none other than Fidel Castro himself!

That's right, the 81 year old Cuban dictator....oops, i meant "duly elected president" of the Caribbean island nation has tipped his hat in favor of Hill the Schrill and Osoma Obama as the next leader of what could become a once great nation if it actually happens. Castro was quoted as saying in the New York Times...oops, my bad again, i meant the Granma (the Cuban Communist Party paper) as saying, "The word today is that an apparently unbeatable ticket could be Hillary for president and Obama as her running mate,".

Not that this is unexpected seeing how Castro as referred to Bill Clinton as "really kind", has claimed that President George W Bush stole the 2000 election (hey, they use DNC talking points down there too!) and also names Jimmy Carter as his favorite US President since he himself took control of Cuba in 1959 according to a Reuters report.

So there you go folks, as if the Al Qaida/Taliban endorsements of the democrats in the 2006 midterm elections weren't enough...this is definitely gravy!

How low can you go?

Fox News is reporting that the US Congress has earned a record tying low approval rating of 18% according to Gallup. The last time it was this low was in 1992 (another Democrat contolled Congress) in the midst of numerous scandals including (but not limited to) the writing and cashing of bad checks by members of the House.
Well, San Fran Nan did promise a different type of Congress...i just didn't realize that she meant a lot worst.

July 4th Message

The following is not mine...i would love to take credit for it, but i can't. It was written by an executive with Associated Grocers based out of Baton Rouge, his name is JH Campbell, Jr. I hope you enjoy:

If we naively believe that our great country survived and thrived for the last 231 years, only because of the industry of its people, we are being possessed and overtaken with pride. Our forefathers truly exhibited great humility because they understood and believed that God was the reason and source for their great bounty, blessings, and opportunity. In the great patriotic song, “America the Beautiful”, the chorus clearly reminds us that “America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown Thy good, with brotherhood, from sea to shinning sea...”

Our great country was the result of a battle (war) between two groups: one a formalized country; and the other a group of people bound together by a resolute belief in God, as the creator of the universe, and a dream of freedom from a monarchy and his religious and other restrictions. To achieve the freedom they desired, they realized that they must be bound together, and therefore give up some of their personal freedom to become “dependent” upon one another. The desire and the dream of freedom were so great that each were willing to support one another fully to achieve the desired goal for all. This paradox of being “dependent”, in order to be “independent” and free, formed the basis upon which our great country was founded. Each of our fore-fathers believed that God would provide for them if they regularly praised Him and gave to Him “thanks” for the many blessings and opportunities which they experienced.

July 4th is the anniversary of the date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. In the Declaration of Independence, the authors and signers speak of “Nature’s God”, the “Supreme Judge of the world”, and that “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” The document concludes “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.”

Is it not strange today to see that God, or any significant reference to God, has been removed from our presence and sight in public buildings, schools, reflections, prayers, communications, etc.? Those offended by any reference to God invoke the “establishment clause” of our Constitution as the basis for their argument, even though such a reference to God is not designed to establish anything (or any religion), but is merely an acknowledgement of a belief or act of faith, neither of which are prohibited by the Constitution of our country.

And yet, the founders of our country believed that Divine Providence was the reason for their coming to the New World to secure the “unalienable rights” endowed by their Creator. Our denial of the presence and impact of our Creator in our lives is not only tragic, but also full of sinful pride. We would do well to humble ourselves before the Creator as our fore-fathers did freely and openly.

Respect and appreciation for human life and human existence is fundamental, since human life is the greatest gift from the Creator. The desire to rid the world of oppression, hatred, and human-induced pain and suffering is noble. To do so, however, we, as a people, must return to the fundamental tenants that our fore-fathers endorsed……Our currency today reminds us, in no uncertain terms, that: “IN GOD WE TRUST”…. If we truly do “trust God”, then we must begin to act accordingly and show the world and one another that we are serious in that belief. I am sure there were many critics and objections 231 years ago, and fortunately for us, there were more dedicated leaders and statesmen who endured the criticism and doubt, and remained committed, faithful, and hopeful to the belief and desire for freedom…and above all “trusted” in God and were not afraid to show that trust in word and deed.

Today, we expect our government to provide for the safety and security of the American people, and yet we must be willing to accept certain limitations on our absolute freedom, and also acknowledge and differentiate our “rights” from our “privileges”. Today, we should freely support the efforts of our law enforcement and intelligence personnel who are charged with the duty to protect the American people from harm each and every day. As Americans, we should fully and unequivocally support all of the men and women of our country’s Armed Forces located throughout the world. The presence and the existence of the United States is real hope to peoples who yearn for the freedom desired by our forefathers some 231 years ago.

On Wednesday, the 4th of July, the great majority of all Americans will be permitted the opportunity to perform basic functions which millions in other countries would love to enjoy. We take for granted our ability to freely, without significant fear or concern, travel, drive a car, go to work, shop in retail stores, invest, buy and sell things, attend recreational and sporting events, golf, fish, hunt, etc., with very little inconvenience or restriction. These freedoms are truly not guaranteed unless we are willing to make certain sacrifices, and accept certain responsibilities. Freedom implies not only responsibility, but also the reality that many “rights”, which we claim, are actually “privileges” for which others provided that opportunity to, and for, us. And yes, for which America has been blessed, by our Creator, as He “shed His Grace on Thee”.

As we celebrate July 4th this Wednesday, please do not forget the source and the reason for the holiday. Please remember our Armed Service men and women and pray for their safe return to their families. Pray for peace in our World and the opportunity for all people to truly enjoy freedom and govern themselves.

To this cause, and as the Declaration of Independence concludes: “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.”

All of the news today was the fact that NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg officially left the Republican party today...funny, i didn't realize he was a Republican!

Let's be honest, is this really a loss for the GOP? I didn't think so either.
