A look at current events from the point of a view of a Conservative Evangelical Christian who stands firmly on the Word of God (that's the Bible for those of you at Berkley) and stands behind the Constitution of the United States of America. Prophet or Profit?

Oh, it think the blood is going to shoot out of my eye balls over this one. This weekend in Atlanta, GA is the first ever "New Baptist Covenant Celebration" conference. It is the brain child of Southern Baptist rejects/former US Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. Their goal is to unite the many baptists through out the United States who apparently have lost faith in the continued growth of the Southern Baptist Convention as it remains one of the most conservative denominational groups today. The elder former President said in his opening remarks, "For the first time in more than 160 years, we're convening a major convocation of Baptists throughout an entire continent without any threat to our unity or to our freedom brought by differences of race, politics, geography or the legalistic interpretation of Scriptures," according to Baptist Press.

Now, as bad as this is...various apostate and liberal so called "baptist" groups gathering to bash the SBC; that isn't even the worst thing. The high light of the day (and someone had to be high to decide on this one) was the awarding of former Vice President and Presidential Election Sore-Loser Algore with the "Baptist of the Year Award". Yes, i said "Baptist of the Year"...which apparently was not something that the vast majority of baptists had a say so in since i never got a ballot.

Robert Parhman, the Executive Director of the Baptist Center of Ethics (another SBC reject who left on his own accord) went as far as to refer to Algore as a...and this is where the head gets ready to explode a "baptist prophet" according to Baptist Press. No, really, i didn't stutter and i'm not making it up, Algore was called a "baptist prophet".

In Parham's introduction of the Profit maker, he said, "We have with us today a Baptist prophet who is so unacceptable that the Baptist establishment in his hometown of Nashville neither acknowledged his winning the Nobel Peace Prize nor honored with coverage his notable Nobel lecture...Prophets are unacceptable because their truth is inconvenient." Obviously, this was a slam on the Southern Baptist Convention which is based largely out of the great city of Nashville.

The Profit Algore went on to say in his speech that some Baptist spokesmen deny the reality of global warming because they are locked in a coalition with rich and powerful people who take advantage of the poor for economic profit. Yeah, that's right...i'm in a coalition with rich and powerful people to take advantage of the poor for economic profit. I'm just rolling in the dough here in my 3 bedroom home where i can just build up my carbon footprint!

If i was only the Profit maker like Algore, i could simply fly private jets across country, have someone drive me around in an SUV, and rest comfortably in my 10,000 square foot house when i finally get time to rest. No, instead i'm too busy trying to take advantage of the poor for my own profit according to the bitter ex-VP!

Just for the record Mr. Parham, a prophet is one who declares the truth of God to point people toward God. A prophet of God preaches to save the soul...not to "save the earth". If Algore is your idea of what "Baptist of the Year" is, i'm thankful that you have decided to abandon my Southern Baptist Convention...and i'm glad we were not invited.

Are you smarter than a 6th grader?

Appparenlty Algore and the environmentalist whacko side of the looney left isn't. I found this article from the Longmont FYI section of the Daily Times-Call out of Northern CO.
When the facts are presented, even the youth of our country who are allowed to think on their own can see the truth.

Global warming on trialSixth-graders decide that humans aren’t to blame
By Ben Ready The Daily Times-Call
LONGMONT — Humans don’t cause global warming, a jury of sixth graders at Trail Ridge Middle School concluded Thursday after hearing opposing arguments from their peers.
“They’re pretty young for this kind of thinking. They did great,” paleontology teacher Ken Poppe said after the 40-minute “trial” in his classroom.
With Earth’s warming accepted as a tenet, pre-teen “lawyers” and “scientists” debated whether humans have caused it.
Eleven jurors listened intently as prosecutors and defendants flashed contradictory graphs tracking global temperatures, carbon dioxide levels, polar ice cap statistics, volcanic activity and sea surface temperatures — all of which were found Wednesday in the school’s computer lab.
“The earth has warmed and cooled over many years. If it’s caused by CO2, why haven’t the charts shot up?” Poppe’s son and lead prosecutor Caleb argued during a rebuttal.
In a climax that sent half the class to its feet and forced the judge to call for order, opponent Monique Nem slapped a contradictory graph onto the prosecution’s table.
“We’ve proven you wrong! The CO2 levels have shot up,” she said.
The jury responded more warmly, however, to Caleb Poppe’s response: The graphic cited a Hawaiian source; Hawaii has volcanoes; volcanoes emit CO2.
In closing arguments, Alexia Hegy said global temperatures actually decreased in the 1960’s, while the global population rose. Humans cannot be at fault, she concluded.
With the final word, defense attorney Sarah Steed countered: “It all comes back to us, the people — not the sun, not the weather. We need to turn off lights when we don’t need them. Bikes can work. The environment can be richer.”
Seven of 11 jurors decided humans are not to blame, but everyone agreed classroom debates make for fun learning.
“It was a hard decision, because both sides made good points,” said student Samantha Roberts.
Ken Poppe said he let students choose which side of the debate to argue. Poppe personally believes global warming is cyclical and not affected by humans, while his Colorado State University student aide David Richards believes the opposite. Both, however, said they presented both sides equally to the students leading up to Thursday’s debate.
“What I think is not the issue. It’s what the students dig up and how they present the case,” Poppe said.
Only one parent questioned Poppe’s decision to hold a global warming debate. That mother expected him to present Al Gore’s global warming movie “An Inconvenient Truth” as indisputable facts, Poppe said. After he explained his neutrality in the classroom, the mom allowed her child to participate in the debate, he said.
“You don’t understand someone’s position until you can argue it to their satisfaction,” Poppe said, quoting a famous physicist. “I don’t believe in Darwinism either, but I can argue it as well as any Darwinist.”

An Inconvenient - Inconvenient Truth

And that truth is, if Algore spent as much time trying to curb his own "abuse" of the environment as he does telling us we need too...we may actually see some improvement.

You see not only is the former VP flying private planes and driving in big SUV's and limo's to his numerous speaking engagements that i'm sure he is paid way too much for...he is also using about 20 times the amount of energy for his home in TN that the average home uses. In fact, reports show that his energy consumption has risen since the release of his Oscar winning comedy...what? really? It was a documentary? No way!
Anyway reports show that Algore's home energy usage has increased since the release of his mocumentary "An Inconvenient Truth". Notice the following stats:

Nashville Electric Service/Gore House

2006 .............................................................2005
High 22619 kWh Aug – Sept ..................High 20532 kWh Sept-October
Low 12541 kWh Jan - Feb .......................Low 12955 kWh Feb-Mar
Average: 18,414 kWh per month ..........Average: 16200 kWh per month

Bill amounts
2006 ............................................................2005
$895.60 (low) ............................................$853.91 (low)
$1738.52 (high) ........................................$1461 (high)
$1359 (average) .......................................$1157 (average)

Nashville Gas Company
Main House 2006 ...................................2005
$990 (high) ..............................................$1080 (high)
$170 (low) ................................................$200 (low)
$536 (average) ........................................$640 (average)

Guest House/Pool House
2006 .........................................................2005
$820 (high) .............................................$1025 (high)
$70 (low) .................................................$25 (low)
$544 (average) .......................................$525 (average)

So that is roughly about $1200 a month for utilities for the above 10000 square foot home. Most people can't even afford to pay $1200 a month for a house and can only dream of a house over 2000 square feet...and he pays that each month just in utilities!

According to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research, "The average household in America consumes 10,656 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year, according to the Department of Energy. In 2006, Gore devoured nearly 221,000 kWh—more than 20 times the national average." What an example Mr. VP...you truly are a pillar!
Of course, his claim is that it is "Carbon Neutral"...but even that doesn't compensate for the amount of wasted energy he uses to heat/cool a house that i'm sure is fit for someone who thinks he should have been President.

Kalee Kreider, a chief liar...i mean spokes person for Algore told Fox News in a phone interview, in response, "You can't just look at a month's utility bills, or a year's utility bills and understand a man's life." She also said that Gore's message is consistent with his lifestyle. He has said that families and organizations are going to use different amounts of energy, and they should first determine their carbon footprint — the overall energy usage in terms of carbon emissions — and do their best to reduce it.
And she is right, Algore's message is and has always been one of hypocrisy...which is the norm for the liberal left. I wouldn't expect anything less from the Gore camp, or anyone affiliated with them, to say one thing and do another.
